New ADStarr ball
Was wondering if anyone has hit the ADStarr NX3 ball yet?
I hit it today, nice cool weather (about 70% outside). Balls were new out of the box!
Made a nice "crack" off the bat, went a long ways, has a nice rough feel to them so you can get a good grip on the ball when throwing it!
Just looking for opinions on it and is this going to be the ball of the future?

Glad you liked the ball, I have been hitting the same 48 balls since last June with no problems or wear. Some of them have small scratches on them from landing in a bluestone drainage swale but other than that no damage.

There are many advantages with this ball, to name a few durability is insane. The grip is always going to stay the same except for when wet but it is still far superior to composite or synthetic. The ball is 100% washable. Bat core contact is also much superior than any other cover on a ball being that the core and cover become 1 piece when finished. Most of all the ball can and will be made here in the U.S. soon enough, we are in the process of making new equipment to move the manufacturing to the states.

Tried a dozen of these balls for our fall league 44/375 and have been very impressed with quality and durability of the balls. They do make a very nice crack off the bat and are consistent with distance whether new or after several games. We used several for 10 games and can't tell any difference in performance and they do clean very easily. Only negative is that the stamping/lettering on the ball disappears in a couple of innings, since you can easily tell the difference between composite/leather/synthetic balls will probably be no problem in league where the league buys and provides all the balls, but could the stamping durability be improved? Also this ball will solve any issue with BP balls being old, worn out, out of round or water logged, they just stay the same. Thanks, Kevin

One addition to last post we did not get to hit in very hot weather but my assumption is that heat has very little affect on them!!!

We only brought in a couple hundred dozen end of this season just for that. We test everything that comes out of China, they always cut corners. We have corrected the ink problem and all of the new balls are good.

Hey tattooball, Hitman, thanks for the input! Anyone else?
Tattooball, are you going to try to get all senior softball associations to try out the NX3?

Where can I find these balls at? I didn't see them on the AD Starr website unless I overlooked them. If the cover is neither composite or synthetic is it a leather cover? What's a ballpark price for a dozen? I would like to try them out, there is a possibility we may purchase them as a league ball this year because we are going back to 44/375. Is there a possibility of a league quantity discount? Thanks,
Oz

ADSTARR.com look on the front page for NX3 softballs. They are neither. They are a real core with several processes that mold a urethane cover to the core. The end result is a 1 piece ball. Yes there is a league discount and you will not find a more durable softball anywhere. As far as senior associations 1 has a contract for ballls. I supply for a association. The others I do not deal with. I do supply these to several senior leagues around the country.

Tattoo, glad i could help get the word out on the NX3! It is worth looking to get and use (if only for a BP ball).
I have read a few threads about using this ball or that ball during Vegas or in summer weather! IMHO, this would be a great universal ball for all Senior organizations! Hope to see it in play one day! Good job!!

Thank you for the post, it will take a year or two for associations to accept this ball as the norm. Making it in the U.S. will be a big advantage. We do make a BP specific ball that does a lot less damage to a bat and still fly's very well. It is 2 color and holds up just as well as all of the balls we make.

Have you found these balls to do any more damage to senior bats then the balls we currently hit?

I designed the for BP with a much lower impact then a .44/375 synthetic. They will break in bats with minimal damage to a bat. Safer to hit than any .44 cor ball and better results in all temps. They will not absorb moisture and the covers make them the most durable ball made to date.

Thanks tattooball, I could probably get a couple dozen of the BP balls and get rid of that huge duffel bag of bp balls I usually tote to the fields.

Balls. Really not sure about softballs but the ones used in Vegas Nationals were HOT. They felt really soft on the outside but were rocket balls. If you made decent contact they were gone.

If this adstarr is better they would be fun to strike.

A dik, Tattooball was in Dalton though he didn't play.

Kevin, what are the specs (cor/comp) of the ball?

Bruce it was good seeing you in Dalton, I did get 2 at bats the first game and blew out my quad on the 2nd at bat ending my weekend.

The ball in Vegas is a multi layer ball, I designed that ball in 2004. The NX3 is a totally different design. I don't recommend hitting a multi layer for BP ever they are very hard on bats.

This ball is not very hard on bats but will still fly very well. I do have another model of this ball coming in sometime early spring that if you are looking for pure distance it is insane. It is called the Long Distance I will warn you that it is not very bat friendly.

Our league is looking for balls for the spring season but they must be 44/375.
It was nice seeing you too.
Again, I would like to thank you for my being able to run reasonably well for a 66 year old!

We make them in several cor/comp spec's .44/375 have been out since July along with the .52/300.

You don't have to just accept getting older, many things you can do to perform better at any age.

I know many guy's playing that will never reach their real age, they just keep going and going like the Eveready bunny.

I'm going to make a motion at our league meeting to adopt this ball. How is the "true-ness" of it as far as weight, bounces and flight compared to a standard ball?

Oz, just going to say it is still a true tournament grade core inside. The difference is that the cover is the most durable on the planet and is fused to the core, so no lose covers. The ball stays round and tight for a long time. I am still hitting the original test balls from June 2014 and they fly as good as all of the new ones I have added to the bag over the last 12 months. I am adding 2 more dozen this week and will hit again on Friday, it is almost going to be 60 here.

Also the cover is the same material as skateboard wheels so you know it has to be durable, however we mix it to be softer.

Happy holiday season to all.

Forgive me if you've already answered this but how do these balls hold up in hot weather compared to the trump stote and vs the rock?
Nov. 25, 2015

I make them in all different cor/comp combinations. The BP ball will hold up great in all weather, the others will lose some according to the temps except for the .52/300.

That being said they will hold compression better because the core is totally sealed.

As far as multi layer balls, they will be a little less in extreme heat but better than non multi layer balls. I do sell multi layer balls as I designed the ones you are referring to in the first place, I have my own version of those.

So if it is just for B/P they are great and much less damage to a bat. For games they are better than non multi layer balls by far. If you only use multi layer balls I have them also.

Tattooball,
Sorry i didn't get back with you about hitting with Mr. Marandi! this is the first time i've been back on the msg board! As for hitting, I am always up for taking swings, always!! Don't know if the opportunity to hit with Tom is still an option, if it is, would love to! If not, any other time he down this way let me know and maybe we can workout a time and place it hit!

PS. I no longer play with Adiktiv Sports, and for whatever reason they don't allow you to change your nickname on this msg board, so I guess I will always be "A dik"

Bruce, how have you been? Hope Thanksgiving was good to you!!
Myrtle Beach...well, we (Combat/Next Level) had to play in the 50 M+ division, lost to Mid-Atlantic (a great team) but, we did win our division! lol!! Tough to loose when you're the only team in your division (55 M+). I ended up MVP so that ended the season for me on the plus side of things! I am already jonesing to play !! Have a Merry Christmas! Hope to see you next year!!

Congrats on the MVP!
I'm excited about our 50 major team for next year. We have picked up Ronnie, Lang and niner from your old team.
You have a good Christmas also and if I don't see you in Tampa I'll see you in Montgomery.

So, update on those nice NX3 balls! Mr Sumpter and I hit this morning /afternoon (11am-1pm), nice chilly day with a breeze coming in from centerfield, North Augusta baseball field, 322ft down the lines, 378ft dead center! Dave and I always hit 12-15 feet behind home plate as we don't want to dig up the batter's box! Anyhow, I have to say, these balls FLY!! Sounds good off the bat and feel good in the hand when pitching!! Very very impressed with them! Anyone who has not hit them, try them out. I think you will be as impressed as I! Dave was hitting them between 320-360 foot shots into the wind and his 5-6 hole shots were getting through like missles! Very impressive day for him! The point being, Awesome product you have here, Tattoo!!

Tom, I will have to get your number from Tattoo! I know I have a Facebook account but have never used it! I don't know how and I don't remember my password...sooooo! What days will you be in Augusta or will you only be here on the 6th?

went to go hit with Paco and Dave had a grate time we hit with the new AD STAR NX3 44-375 ball it was my first time swinging with that ball, i have the NX3 52-300 ball i hit with, the NX3 44-375 ball i think senior softball should take a look at that ball to used in there tournaments biggest advantage is when the ball gets wet we all know whats happens? the ball gets heavy and your bat cracks, all you do with this ball just dry it off with a towel and it's good to go the water can't get in because the ball has no lace its sealed together, anyway thanks again Paco and Dave and thanks for pointer hope to hit again soon Tom49

OZ40, HIT THEM AT FRIDAY MORNING B.P., THE FIRST 12 SWINGS AND THE LAST 12 SWINGS OF 100 JUST FOR COMPARISON PURPOSES. WAS ABOUT 75ISH DEGREES WITH WIND BLOWING STRAIGHT IN AT 10 MPH. THE FIRST 12, HIT 3 OF 12 OUT (3 OF LAST 4) AS I TAKES ME A WHILE TO LOOSEN UP. THE LAST 12, I HIT 7 OF 12 OUT. THE LINE DRIVES WERE MORE INFLUENCED BY THE SPIN I THOUGHT. THE URETHANE MOLDED COVER SEEMED TO IMPART MORE SPIN TO THE BALL (BOTH BACKSPIN AND TOPSPIN) AS IT FELT AS IF IT GRIPPED THE BAT A BIT BETTER THAN A TRADITIONAL COVER.(ESPECIALLY THE DUDLEY) SEEMED TO BE VERY CONSISTENT IN PERFORMANCE. FEEL WAS A BIT DIFFERENT THAN A TRADITIONAL COVER BALL AS WAS THE SOUND. DISTANCE WAS ON PAR WITH ANY GOOD NEW 44-375 BALL. TRUE 44-375 THAT IS. OVERALL I THINK KEVIN HAS A WINNER HERE IF FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN DURABILITY. I TEND TO RUIN AT LEAST 2-3 BALLS EVERY B.P. SESSION BY HITTING THE FENCE AND SLICING THE COVERS WIDE OPEN. SMASHED THREE OF THESE INTO THE FENCE ON A LINE, ONE INTO THE FENCE FABRIC AND THE OTHER 2 OFF OF THE PIPES, AND NOT A SCRATCH. GOING TO PICK UP A FEW DOZEN MORE AFTER THE FIRST OF THE YEAR. HOPE THIS WORDY DIATRIBE HELPS !! LOL
