When will the new ratings reflecting the Vegas outcomes and appeals take place?
Those evaluations are underway and may take up to six weeks to complete ... Current emphasis is on the teams playing in the Winter Nationals and Winter Worlds ... Three teams were re-rated yesterday ... Two were based on performance and one for having won either the SPA Nationals or the World Masters ...
Hi Staff, i was wondering of you ever clean out the ratings of teams that no longer play or have changed names, i know in 65's they date back to 2008, dont believe a lot of those teams from 2011 and back are even playing anymore, will you be checking on them? just to make the list a little simpler to look and check when you look at teams going to tourneys. Thanks, keep up the good work in answering questions, Rabbit
We have a "toggle switch" on each team page that can specify "public" or "private" in terms of displaying a team's rating ... The "private" is designed for teams that may be currently inactive or defunct ... We retain those teams because of the player histories they contain, but there is no need to list them ... It seems like it might be time to have someone go through the lists and clean it up a bit! ... Thanks for the reminder ...
So the teams that had succes at the Worlds will still be rated as their current rating for Winter Worlds in Phx.
That would be an inaccurate assumption ... Changes were made for the Winter Nationals in FL ... The same will be true for the Winter Worlds in Phoenix ...
"A team that wins one of the three "automatic move" championships in a bracket of more than five teams ... Those three tournaments are ...
1. The LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters in Las Vegas;
2. The SPA World Championships in Dalton, GA; and
3. The ISA Senior World Series in Columbus, IN
is automatically moved up.
Is this quote from the SSUSA office still correct?
YES ... Subject to the following additional criteria ...
• In a bracket of 2 teams (Best 2 of 3), there is NO automatic move up
• In a bracket of 3-5 teams, the move up is automatic, but the team may file a rating appeal after having played THREE tournaments at the higher rating; and
• In a bracket of 6 or more teams, there are NO rating appeal rights for the ensuing tournament Season ...
Thank you, much appreciated.
Question, our team recently was promoted to MAJOR-PLUS,(Oregon Flatliners) we just lost 6 of our starters to (Cornerstone) we are now unable to compete at that level. What can we do?
SSUSA quick question last year in 2014 SSUSA basically moved up all 1st & 2nd place teams that played in World is that the same format going into 2015 format?
I am a little confused, Flatliners just won in LV at 55 Major so all of your players are 55 or older and all of them are now ranked Major Plus. Now Cornerstone just won in LV at 50 Majors so of those players are now ranked Major Plus. And now 6 of your 55 year old guys want to go play 50 Major Plus instead of staying on your team and play 55 Major Plus? There is a solution they can play both, that is your 6 55 year old players.
CV3, not true in all cases, 2nd place in Major 65 was not moved up and there are other that also didn't move.
LeeLee.Major plus players can play Major or Major PLus at either age group dependenton the make up of the Major Team.
Will try to cover as many of the recent posts as we can in this one ...
• johnny mongo ... We have no comment on your opinion about being "..unable to compete at that level.." ... However, ALL players that are/were on the roster of a team that receives a performance based rating increase will carry that new rating in their player excperience history for two Seasons ... Teams winning one of the three "automatic" rating increase tournaments have a more strict standard ... NEITHER Cornerstone nor Oregon Flatliners will have the appeal option available for the 2016 Season as World Masters Champions ... Since your inquiry was made with respect to a specific team, it's best for the manager to call Sacramento and talk with George Moreno to hear what options, if any, may be there ... In the interim, both of the teams you mentioned will play Major+ in the 2016 Season (and congratulations on your respective Championships!) ...
• CV3 and JBTexas ... Automatic Champions (in the case of teams playing in the Winter Nationals or Worlds) have been moved ... Evaluations are ongoing with regard to a better policy/procedure for teams from large(r) brackets ... Moving the top two from last year should NOT be viewed as a binding or limiting precedent ... In fact, analysis is underway to take a good look at, say, the top 10-15% of the larger brackets from Las Vegas, like those with, for example, over 24 teams ... It is easily supportable to say, strictly for speculation, that maybe the top 7-10 teams in a 68-team bracket should be looked at ... Maybe the the top 4 to 6 teams in 55-AAA (45 teams), 60-AAA (39 teams), 50-Major (40 teams) and 40-Major (35 teams) ...
• LeeLee50 and titanhd ... titanhd is correct ... It's an individual facts and circumstances deal from team to team and tournament to tournament ... Note that a team "playing down", for example a 55-Major+ playing 50-Major, may NOT have any 50's players on the roster or they must play at 50-Major+ ... MTC Fives at this year's World Masters is the perfect example ...
Yes each Major team would be allowed to have 3 Major Plus players. If you read his comment he said "we just lost 6 of our starters to Cornerstone". I would guess the 6 55 year old starters are going to be ranked Major for 50's. Either way I think you are jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. I believe the 3 best divisions in SSUSA are 40,50 and the 55 Major Plus, with the 40's and 50's being the very best. Both the Sommerville and Summy's are very good teams, pick you poison 50 or 55 Major Plus.
Johnny Mongo, consider your team lucky that cornerstone took some of your players early this winter...you have time to build a team before worlds next winter. It's not like they added them right before worlds.
The rumor down south is, at least in major ball, Cornerstone usually waits till a week or so before the worlds then adds three or so players that have never played with them, and another player from a frozen roster without being released to their World roster team;-)
Did I just say that outloud?? Shame on me 😉
rumor...it's just a rumor I say....
Staff?????
STAFF, Thank You for the clarification.
TIM, Thx also, we are aware of that when some of our team flew back down to play with Cornerstone. Look fwd to playing 5 inning games with you next year!:(
LEELEE50, I don't know if CORNERSTONE is maybe going 55 next year, the 6 who left were with CORNERSTONE in 2014 and all are over 55. They are a well funded team.
Yeah I heard that I got a chance to sit down with the 2 guys who said they were the sponsors and that they were going to spend some money next year. Well look at this way there will be more teams to play in that division next year.
Seems to me MTCJv should be the Champions of the Major division over Cornerstone this year by default... Cornerstone picked up a player from another team that wasn't released this year.. Staff knows who we are talking about and should clarify to everyone their findings.. My feeling is, there are way to many loopholes to letting teams beef up for worlds! the fact that teams can pick up players who have never played one inning with a team all year is a joke all by itself! IMO!
Yeah Tim i here you.Its funny how we played cornerstone all year in all the tournaments.AND They have 6 new guys who never played on the team all year except for the worlds. Most of the newer guys from cali on the team understood why we be a little upset.Neverless they got to win two worlds in a row.I Think im going to get a team and put 6 players on my bench for worlds and pick 6 more up. lol.Tim i always liked playing you guys because there always a bunch of good games between us
and real nice players. later KREUGS
Kreugs, can we pick you up for this season.. Warriors could use your bat!;-)
To the disgruntled Dorflingers:
Let's set the record straight for all to see...Cornerstone did not add 6 players before World's, it was 3 which we had to do in order to make twelve players. We lost 2 to injury after Sacramento and 1 due to a terminally ill son in which he could not concentrate on softball. All 3 players we picked up were 55 yrs old. One was a Shortstop who has played with Cornerstone since it's inception. One was a player from California and the other a player that you, Dorflingers, deemed not good enough to make your Vegas roster. We went through the proper channels and was granted permission. Only one guy was granted permission the week before Vegas and the others right after Sacramento.
Yes, we beat you in World's but, let's face it, you didn't play like your normally do. Your coach intentionally walked eight players and all eight scored. You did not lose a World championship because of Cornerstone, you had a record of 4-3 (you lost 3 games).Stop with the six illegal players. You are spreading rumors that are simply not true. Of our twelve players, 9 were 55 years old.
Dorflingers is a great team and had a spectacular year and are very capable of winning a World's title. It just didn't happen this year.
To johnny mongo:
You mention we are a "well funded" team. I am curious how you know that because, I don't know who LEELEE50 is, I never sat down with him and discussed the Cornerstone money situation with him. That would be a bold faced lie.
Tim Millette:
I don't know you personally so why do you cast rumors about something you know nothing about? (Stir the pot as usual)
kreugs:
I do know of you and I know you are a great guy. Why are you buying into this? We played 5 times and you guys won 3. No conspiracy here. (we picked up three, not six).
To Flatliners:
Five players left Cornerstone last year to help you play 55 and win a World title (you're welcome). There are only three who are coming back to play the 2016 season. Should that change, you will be the first to know. Let's be serious, you lost two starters.
I thought this was a men's division, I have never seen so many people complain. Dorflingers has how many Major Plus players on there team and they are complaining, how did you guys get classified Major's? Get your facts right, Cornerstone did not pick up six players. Some of these guys have been on the roster all year. They just didn't play all the tourney's with them. It is amazing to see people when they don't win. Next time don't face book ring sizes and championships before its over. I guess walking 8 guys in a game was not a smart coaching move.
Kreugs, it's always enjoyable playing against you northerners.
Isn't is interesting Staff was all over this thread until the Cornerstone stuff popped up.
There is a rumor down here that you guys protested the cornerstone roster at 50 Major worlds.
Is that rumor true?
And if so...what have you heard?
I was told from one of the Cornerstone players himself that his first game with Cornerstone was at 50 major worlds..
I think? According to the SSUSA rules that is legal in the Plus division but illegal in the Major Division.
I had not heard Cornerstone had 6 players that had never played with them before worlds...the talk down here is three summy guys were illegal and a player from your team that was not released from your frozen roster..
Again....this is almost all second hand info so maybe everything is not true...maybe Staff can clarify...
If Cornerstone did indeed have a roster that was not legal but somehow got through the cracks??? Even if no one else is awarded the title, Cornerstone should not be allowed keep it.
If, this rumor all over NorCal is wrong and Cornerstone did not have all these guys that were illegal, because they qualified in some event somewhere? Staff should enlighten all of us , do the right thing, and clear the Cornerstone players names...as it is right now..
The growing rumor in NorCal is they cheated the system according to SSUSA Major roster rules.
They could have done what they did/wanted, except if they had a frozen player from another team IF they were in the Plus division..just not Major and below.
Staff?
We're going to stay out of a lot of the "ancillary" issues that have arisen, but I will say, as the Field Director at BLD where BOTH 55-Major and 55-Major Championships were contested, I am very familiar with the "Cornerstone Roster" issue ... I spent literally hours going over that roster, with a multitude of interested parties (not to be confused with Managers, who are the only people I'm required to discuss it with) ...
As Cornerstone posted, everything written in the first full paragraph of his post is 100% accurate ... Beyond that paragraph, we simply don't care ... Within the roster composition rules available to ALL teams, they added roster players #10-12 from the same age, same skill rating, and players #13-15 from the next age, same skill level criteria ... It is totally irrelevant under that rules-based roster build scenario whether or not ANY of them had previously played for the team ... It's unfortunate when wild accusations, false rumors and false innuendo detract from the greatness of all teams involved ...
Northwest Softball had a GREAT year in Las Vegas, and not just the 50's and 55's ... Ruth Realty 70's and PDR Fastsigns 75's also won World Titles, so that's four from just two states ... Very impressive ... Enough is enough, please ... "That's it" from us, and hopefully from most of you, too, on this topic ... Thanks ...
The next step will be thread closure ..
Tim I see you are making friends and influencing people again. Just go back to watching Caitlyn Jenner interviews and stay out of things you know nothing about.
Cornerstone you are right Tim just stirs the pot. Don't worry about it though because Tim is just an underachieving, whining, crybaby, who strives for mediocrity. No one on this site or Old scout message board really gives a crap about what he thinks or says.
Because you won just be prepared to take crap from all those that didn't win. I'm sure Bass and Springer helped you win but it's a team game and I'm sure all 12 players contributed.
Tim's comments are just about jealousy. He's not good enough to play for Summy's so he talks crap about their players. We wanted him to be waterboy for Sommerville but he got beat out for the job. Now he talks all kinds of crap about Sommerville but nobody cares.........
Congrats on your Championship.
When you win the haters all come out.
Well, Someone said the magic words ... The duck dropped down ... And Groucho closed the thread ... Well done, guys!
