Discussion: Which Home Plate

Was a catcher this weekend and the bases were loaded ball hit
to pitcher and he throws it to me high I jump to catch it and
the mat slid out to the pitcher mound past the real home plate
I can down on the real home plate and the ump called runner safe because I was not standing on the white home plate that
was painted on the mat
Wes - Bad call if this was an SSUSA sanctioned event under SSUSA rules ...

§1.62 - STRIKE ZONE MAT
A strike zone mat will be used. The rectangular mat will be 19" (48.26 cm) wide and 34½” (87.63 cm) in length. The mat shall be made of rubber or other suitable material. The mat is placed over home plate and be aligned with the front edge of home plate. DEFENSE: A defensive player making a play at Home plate will be allowed to complete the play by touching any portion of the strike mat. If, during the play, the mat is dislodged, the defensive player shall touch home plate, rather than the strike zone mat.

I have only ever seen SPA mats with a painted on home plate.
Sounds like you should have done what Clean Up suggested and used spikes and Home Plate said use super glue in a previous discussion. Wes I'm glad you did not get hurt on the play.
