Discussion: Desert Breeze Park

Are the fields at Desert Breeze Park in Las Vegas all artificial? Looks like
it on the satellite view, no brown patches, sprinkler circles. And if so, I
bet it plays hot when it's in the 90's!

ShaneV
Yes Shane. Outfields are all artificial. Infields are dirt. I start league out there Wednesday so i should know more about the conditions after playing a couple games.
That's a switch, the outfields turf, but the infields dirt?
I can understand why they would do that, in that desert
climate. Here in rainy Western Washington the perfect
combination is artificial infield and natural outfield.
I much prefer that combination. I've only played
artificial outfield once, in Medford OR a few years ago,
and I can't say I liked it. Hot on the feet and the
ball runs like it's got legs!!! Good news is it's the
same for both teams, that's universal for all temps and
conditions.

ShaneV
Played at Desert Breeze last night. The base paths are dirt but the rest of the infield and outfield is turf. Good shape and will be a good place to play.
is the ball going to bounce 20-30ft in the air if the outfielder doesnt catch it ??
Any suggestions for a good place to take some BP next Friday morning before we
play at Desert Breeze? Looks like there are 5 soccer fields across the road.

ShaneV
Ball bounces pretty high if its coming down at a steep angle but not too bad. I like playing the outfield there.
BP will be a mess but on Friday or early on the weekends the soccer fields are the best bet.
