If you are starting a team I have names of guys from Nebraska. They did not have enough to have another team, but they want to play.

Discussion: Why 2-day

In Rogers, AR this year for the Midwest tournament there were only 5 teams and they drug it into 3 days. This tournament was done on Friday at 4, and Saturday at 4, while not even using all the fields available. Why do we keep having a tournament for 3 days when 2 would be fine. We also think it time to move the Midwest Tournament back to Kansas City or Columbia, more in the center of the midwest. We lost all the Minnesota teams now that it is in Arkansas. Last year there were only 3 teams in the tournament in all ages from Arkansas.

I am sorry to hear about George, but I have said for years, why not have 1 person in the office do all the 50's, one person the 55's, one the 60's, one the 65's, and maybe 1 person for the rest.

All this should not be on one person in this big of a office. I agree we shell out a lot of money to the communities and to Senior Softball, but it take forever to get noticed when you need to have a team moved down.

The outfields are really bad every year, no better this year. Let's move this tournament to a area where more teams would attend. Only having 2-4 in a bracket is no fun for anyone. I like the area of the country, but we had no teams from Minnesota, Iowa, or Colorado. I think if it was in a major city with a big airport would maybe get more teams. Kansas City or Columbia would be much better as KC has a large airport and close to Columbia. If moving it doesn't get anymore team, then go back to Rogers. Let's try something to get more teams.

Discussion: Steve Simmons Memorial/Mosquitoland Classic (SSUSA/SPA)

This tournament seems to amaze me every year. Something has to change. This year there was a team that was scheduled to play at 8:00 am on Sunday but then changed to noon, but no reason why (but later we decided because their good guys were not available). There were open fields. The team shows up from Nebraska to play the Lumberjacks. They played the team the night before, and now the team has a lot of different players off major teams. They play them the 2nd game and the pitcher goes off in the stands and get two more guys to play for their team. More major players. This is in the 50AAA final. The Nebraska team protested the teams roster and the T.D. said they don't have rosters. This is not right! We asked to see their starting lineup and the umpire said he doesn't get them. Isn't this a qualifier and suppose to be ran better than this?

Who is over this tournament USA or SPA?

8.10 • SCORING LINE AND SCORING PLATE
A base runner’s foot down on or down past the scoring line or down on the
scoring plate prior to the ball being received by a defensive player touching the
strike mat results in the scoring of a run

Not sure why the Tournament Director would overrule. I would take this up with the main office.

8.9(2) • CROSSING OR TOUCHING STRIKE MAT OR BATTER’S BOX
The runner shall also be called out if he touches or crosses over any portion of
the strike mat or the batter’s box. The ball remains live.

There were two outs and it was the same 60 Major team game at Rocky Mountain. The head umpire said "it is not the umpires job to keep track of runners, it is the books", but then they would not take the word of the book of the visiting team. This was on Saturday at the "b" complex field #1.

There was a head umpire at both complexes and not sure this head umpire was experienced as the one at the "A" complex on Saturday.

The runner had already went to the bag.

7th inning of a game. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Home team is up to bat and scored 9. Winning run on 3rd, 2 outs after a base hit. Guy on first gets a runner. as soon as he takes the base the Visiting scorekeeper says that guy has already ran that inning. Umpire stops game and Home book scorebook says he has not, but they were not writing it down who had ran after this long inning and who had not.

Umpire gets umpire in charge and Tournament Director over and 20 minutes later after one of the managers jokingly said let's flip for it, and then they did. No one knew what to do.

I see the issue with all the games, but if you moved back to KC with 8 fields instead of 6, that would maybe work better.

Dave no comment about the field conditions. They were the worst I have seen and they did not even work the infield. Hope they gave you some $$ back.

Any chance we can move next year back to farther north to get some of the Minnesota teams back?

The field conditions on #4 were the worst. The outfield went up and down (not even at all) there were only weeds. The outfields were bad on all the fields.

The grounds keepers only lined the fields, but nothing else at all but a little rack here or there. No drags, no water between any games as I watched 3 in a row on one field. Infields were terrible, outfields were terrible. Umpires were good, stats on line were good.

If we are going to continue to go to Rogers (which seems so far for so many teams) then the City needs to step up to the plate and take care of their fields.

With the number of teams attending this tournament not sure why we could not have done it in 2 days instead of 3 for the 50's, 55's and 60s. Only 2 games a day is not much on the first day. We could have played later games, and I saw empty fields at times.

Move this tournament to Columbia or KC.

Discussion: Steve Simmons Memorial Tournament in Little Canada, MN

A lot of things happened at this tournament.

#1. Why did teams get 10 run ruled. We played the first day at the other location and the manager there it was a rule change. Our manager asked when we went to check in and said no changes. The game took 29 minutes, then sat and waited for the next teams to get done.
#2. Why are we doing 1-1 count with no Courtesy foul.

Looks like me from both the things above we wanted to hurry the games as much as possible and cash our check.
#3. Why don't any of the players have to check in at all, no line up cards filled out at all.
