Discussion: Out of the Batters Box.

As many do I walk the box to try to get a pitch "in my zone" so to speak and yes I have had to adjust with the newer height rules. However if your going to allow USSSA height rules (3-6 I believe) and allow the plate to be a strike SSUSA rule. I don't see anyway to hit a ball while its above my knees without my front foot being out of the box. I could agree with either fix though. Either no longer allow the plate as a strike or move the box forward about a foot. While we are mixing pitch rules can I get a SSUSA comment on the pitch motion? Is it a present the ball and constant movement (ASA) or are all the juke and gyrations of USSSA allowed?

Discussion: Jimmer Stick

While both the jimmer stick and thunderstick are 34 in long and 1 inch in diameter. They both will make you concentrate and hit the center of the ball. The fact the jimmer stick comes in a much heavier weight (26 - 37 for the thunderstick verses 48-60 for the jimmer. There fore when you hit/swing with it it is supposed to help you build strength and explosive power.

No, I actually have 3-4 OG U2's to swing thru before I have to look at new senior bats. I usually watch ebay or CL and pick up bats cheap just to try them out, then sell them on when I can. I picked up a 28 oz Hyper Z which swings a little heavy for me for 100$ and 2 Dudley Lightning for 225 (27 balanced and 28 endload both sold) and a 26 oz nightmare for $100 I traded old ASA and NSA bats for the 4 I mentioned above.

I believe 55 AAA Finish was 1. Ball Busters out of Fl. 2. Hartford County LV out of MD, 3. Team Illinois/Pias. Congrats to the Ball Busters even though you didn't pitch to me on Saturday.

Picked up 4 bats in trade and was looking for some input on them. I got 3 Senior Salvo's, 1 used 27 and 2 NIW in both 27 and 28. Also got a NIW Easton BSR in 26. I swung the used Salvo in a BP session and wasn't impressed with it although I don't think it's had enought swings to be broken in yet. Anyone swinging thiese? Any information would be appreciated.

I currently have a pair of the Mizuno Erupt 3's and I am very satisfied with them. My question is does anyone still make an actual high top shoe in either spikes or turfs?

Joel, since you state that the U2's tested were still in the wrapper I would assume they are senior stamped bats as well. I know there isn't supposed to be a difference between those and the old ASA stamped or no stamped ones, but I think there is. I have a couple of og ASA stamped bats that probably have a huge number of swings on them. I'd be interested in know how they did on a compression tester. I also have an 04 still in the wrapper we could test.

Another version of the provided bat theme that I have heard discussed is for each team to supply 4-5 bats. Only use those for the game. If you want to swing an altered bat the other team also has an option to use it. Anyone hit and injured with an altered bat the blame/penalties fall on the original owner.

My name is John Sutherin but better known as Opie around the ball parks. I am currently playing 50 AAA with the Blue Grass team out of KY but looking to move up to 55 as well. I am currently being used as a cstcher and EH but can be used at first as well. I still hit the ball well and with power on occasion but bad feet have slowed my down. Here is the remainder of the tournament schedule for this year Shelbyville 7-9/10, Columbus 7-29/31, O'Fallon 8-26/28, Cincinnati 9-23/25 and Myrtle Beach 10-21/23. We have also qualified for TOC in Feb. but undecided at this time. Any 55 team playing thiese tournaments who might be interested in an extra player please feel free to contact me.

Still playing local leagues and tournaments so thought I'd put a question out to all of you. Which ball in each category have you found to be the best. Looking for an overall average of durability and distance. Located in North central IN so don't have to be concerned with high temperature conditions to often. I have always been a fan of the "Evils" but there are so many out there now it's hard to test them all.

While we are under the rain delay. Is there a 55 AAA coach in the area interested in discussing the possibility of adding an Indiana based player for future tournaments? I am currently playing for Blue Grass 50s based out of KY but eligible to play the 55 (DOB 9-60) division as well.
