AZ Ancient 65 Major+ softball team is looking to add 2 players (1 infielder & 1 outfielder) to play in the Worlds in St George September 21, 22, 23. Because of covid and injuries our roster has fallen below the minimum number of qualified players. If you live west of the Mississippi and are 65 qualified you can play with us as an exempt status player and not be subject to any rating increase. If interested please call Walt at 480-720-4292 or respond to this message.

Discussion: Major Plus Teams in Winter Worlds, Session 1

Dave,

I just want to clarify something that has been stated several times. I am the manager of AZ Ancient and I was never contacted about playing a two day tourney. Since there are only 2 major+ teams I am in agreement with playing only two days. However I was never contacted about this decision.

Az Ancient who won the 65 Major crown in Las Vegas is moving up to 70's. We are looking for 2 or 3 players who can play 70 Major+ for the Winter Worlds in Phoenix November 12-14. Please contact Walt at 480-720-4292.

"Competitive" is a crock. You have a team that has not lost a 65 major+ tourney in 2+ years(including spotting runs), and now you put them against 65 major teams. I really thought with 14 major teams this would be a great tourney. Not anymore, unless you do what you did in the Winter World's from 2017 where Timberworks played but could not win a game. Otherwise, the only teams that will get an advantage are the ones in the opposite bracket of Timberworks, where they won't have to play them until the winners finals. If this is USSSA's stance, to let Timberworks play in a lower division, then you should let teams know up front before they enter a tourney.

We had a recent injury and need a player for Las Vegas. 65 AZ ancient. We are major plus but since this drops us below 12 players the player would not get the major plus tag he would get an exemption. If you are available call Walt 480-720-4292

Discussion: Ratings

Okay I'm the manager of the Az Ancients and just to set the record straight SSUSA sent me the email of why we got bumped to Major+. They said it was because we won 3 tourneys last year the Southwest, The Western States (what...yes it's right up there with the World Masters.. and yes there was one other 65's team in the entire tournament) and the Winter Worlds. The World Masters didn't even come into play....why? Okay, according to SSUSA rating guidelines you must be winning games by 5+ runs. In the Masters we actually had a -4 total run differential in bracket play and Winter Worlds our run differential in bracket games was +2.6/game and that includes winning the if game by 10 runs. It would just be nice to have a set of rules that everyone plays by.

AZ Ancient 65 Major softball team from Arizona is seeking sponsorship for 2017 and possibly beyond. We are a competitive team winning the 2015 Southwest Championship, 4th in 2015 World Masters Championship and winning 2016 Spring Worlds. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
