Gary,
Go to this website http://ncssa.club/ They have a place to post that you are looking for a team as well as a list of tournaments that occur almost every weekend that you can go to and ask around.

Obagain, what's wrong with giving a pitcher a little edge, its effing slow pitch softball, if you can't hit it, grab some pine.

Discussion: Tee-shirts or other prizes?

When I run my NCSSA tournaments, I have recruited sponsors to cover my anticipated awards expense. For my two tournaments with a total of 7 brackets total, I have 4 wineries that cover the cost. Their banners are displayed at the event and their logos are on the backs of the t-shirts I give out. I don't pre-order the t-shirts, but order them to the specifications of the winning teams and send them out Priority Mail. We also provide the Costco shorty bottles of water, I think they are 5 oz free of charge. In the past I have charged $275 per team and still make about $3000 a year for our Big Valley Seniors Club.

Discussion: Senior Softball Leagues in the Santa Rosa, CA Area

I have a friend that is interested in starting to play senior ball. He lives in the Santa Rosa area. Does anyone know of any leagues that are available for that area?

Signing a waiver doesn't really relieve any entity from liability, nor does mandating equipment usage. All you need is a good lawyer.

Hemi,
I've worn the gloves I described above in 30 degree weather (not playing softball) and they do keep your hands comfortably warm.

Try these. We use them at work and I think they might fit the bill. They are not sports gloves. They are made of a stretch material so they form to your hand like a second skin without being uncomfortably tight and the palm and fingers have a rubberized material for grip. Haven't tried them for throwing but I did put one on and picked up a softball and it seems like it would work

Fastenal has a similar product called Body Guard. Both sell for under $5 a pair

Discussion: Pitchers new rule of mandatory face masks for pitchers..

I've switched to a worth batting helmet with face guard. I used a mask before, but at times I took it off because of the sun issue. Also, my mask was the polycarbonate material and it obstructed my view on grounders once the got about 3' from me. I don't have the same problem with the helmet/mask combo. It is warmer, but definitely worth the change

Try the Tanel 360, it is reasonable and also if you look through some of the discussions there is a code that will get you a 20% discount

Taits,
Treacy here. Just curious, what are they reporting in LA regarding the drought conditions. In Norcal, we are facing mandatory 20% reductions in water usage. Is it the same for Socal?

Southerson, I've pitched 40+ years and have never seen anyone hit in the face, yet I won't take the chance. If a guy wants to hit the middle, go ahead, but if I know you are trying to hit the middle and hit me, protection or not, you will pay the price one way or another. I'd much rather get a rash than have my face deformed by a 100+ mph softball

I'm with AcePV, I wear a helmet and wire mask, wire mask is much better than the plastic. This should be a choice, not a requirement. I chose to wear it, not worth the risk

Discussion: bats and cold weather

I always try and keep my equipment in a controlled temperature environment i.e. indoors. It is the constant temperature changes as Crusher suggests that damage bats. Heat also damages shoes and gloves and dry cold air in the winter dries out your glove

Deal,
They also are allowing all area reps, both primary and alternates to vote on issues at Board meetings, other than that, Scott pretty much summed up the activity at the meeting
