Discussion: Illegal tournament bat

Just finished a tournament in Hemet. Trying to get feedback on why a bat that we use in league play (not considered a hot bat and not stamped 1.20 or 1.21) is illegal? To me it is a “lesser bat”and has ASA/USA stamp just not a hot bat designation. Why would it not be listed and okay to use? Our player was unaware it was illegal and after his hit and arriving at first base, was then called out by the umpire who noticed it didn’t have the proper stamp.
