i find google maps "measure distance" feature to be pretty accurate. unless they plan on using temp fences at Eastern Worlds, it looks like ~375/380ft from home plate to center field fence.

Thanks for getting the schedules published for ABQ. I know they are "draft" so just providing some feedback in case you aren't aware yet. Specifically the 60s schedule

https://www.seniorsoftball.com/wc/wc2026/ALBQ-26-60.pdf

Page 1 - at the bottom I think the 2nd block is meant to represent the 60M and AA team's 2nd day of pool play. But it says "Friday" rather than "Saturday". Also the game times appear to be copy & paste from Friday afternoon while the master grid shows these games on F1 back to back starting at 8 AM Saturday morning.

Page 4 - typo at the top, says 50+ AAA instead of 60+ AAA

Looking forward to the tournament.

Yes, Tingley was in use last year (we played there). by "add" i mean several weeks ago the tournament page listed Los Altos as the sole playing location. its all good.

Hi, i see we have 64 teams playing this year and you added a 2nd field location for Land of Enchantment. Any idea when you will have field assignments finalized? inquiring minds want to know ;-)

Discussion: Just wondering on a ruling

BJ - interesting that the rule calls it an appeal play. To add a little more detail, i was walking in from LC. I watched the guy on 2nd walk towards 3rd. I could tell he was veering off so i looked at the home plate umpire and he was looking right at the runner. i'd say the runner was past the coaches box, very close to the dugout when the ump put up his hands and made the call. I can't say whether someone on my team said something to the ump which might have constituted an appeal.

i can tell you the other team was not happy. It took 5+ minutes to get everyone settled down and get on with the game.

we had something similar happen in a tourny. we were in the field.
runner on 2nd didn't touch third base ( i think it was a walk rather than a hit)
umpire watched him the whole way
he just wanted past 3rd base to the dugout
umpire called dead ball. the runner who missed 3rd was called out. all base runners returned to previous base, the runner who was on 3rd did not score.
i think that ended the inning as the 3rd out.

@LBC - not to speak for him but I think he's asking about Jan 2027. At the top of the current tournament list there is a link title "Teams currently qualified for TOC 2027".

If you click the link (https://seniorsoftball.com/?page=30) it takes you to a page titled "Teams currently qualified for TOC 2027" but all the data on the page is for the 2026 TOC event earlier this year.

You'll likely get a diff opinion from everyone who replies, my recommendation would be the Miken Mike Dill bat.

I see it listed for $150 on Smash It Sports today, if you like a 26oz.

Discussion: New video rule

Regarding
§3.11 (New) • VIDEO TECHNOLOGY– Due to advances in video technology and the affordable cost of such
equipment, more and more teams are deploying those devices. A proposal was made to prohibit use of
video broadcasting or recording devices, including still cameras, within the confines of the playing field.
EXCEPTION: Personnel approved by SSUSA to use such equipment on the field • PASSED: 12-0-0

Are the words “within the confines of the playing field “ the key here? Still ok to hang a camera outside the fence and broadcast on Facebook/youtube/erc ?

maybe even 0 pitches, if the pitcher comes set and you cross the plate before he even delivers the ball. but i digress...

using 6 pitches is the long way to do it. could have been done in 3 :-)

7.3 • BATTING POSITION
C. The batter shall not step directly in front of the catcher to the other batter's
box while the pitcher is in position to pitch. EFFECT: The ball is dead, the
batter is out and the runners may not advance

Just a guess but i'd say it was because the deadline for 50's men registration is Sept 2 and they haven't closed it out yet.

Discussion: SSUSA and Southwest airlines

@gott2play - that's my backup plan. I was hoping to maintain a-list status in 2026 but didn't get enough flights this year. The good news is, you just have to have a SWA visa to get the 1 free bag, you don't actually have to use it to book the trip. Customer support mentioned it takes 14 days to recognize you as a card holder so anyone getting one need to do so in advance of their flight.

$69 is the lowest fee, i think they have a couple options for more $$. But if you check a bag twice you are saving $$ with the card rather than paying bag fees.
