My issue appears to be resolved, now I see

4 year(s): $70 Card expires: 2028
3 year(s): $60 Card expires: 2027
2 year(s): $50 Card expires: 2026
1 year(s): $35 Card expires: 2025

The 5th year option is gone but I suspect that's because in 2029 I move up an age bracket. @soxbo - perhaps this is why you only see 1 year, due to moving up.

Hey Bruce, i will likely end up calling. I had seen an announcement from SSUSA saying to wait until after 10/9:

"If you are trying to renew for the 2025 season (including Winter Nationals and Winter Worlds), our database will transition to the 2025 season next week, Wednesday, October 9.

Please do not renew player or team registration online or via phone before October 9."

So i thought/hoped/assumed things had been updated but perhaps it is taking longer than expected.

Hi, I just finished my first year playing SSUSA. I registered last October and only did 1 year as I was not sure how it would go, it went great, thanks for asking ;-)

I went to renew my membership today (oct 11, 2024) online and see these options:
5 year(s): $75 Card expires: 2028
4 year(s): $70 Card expires: 2027
3 year(s): $60 Card expires: 2026
2 year(s): $50 Card expires: 2025
1 year(s): $35 Card expires: 2024

i am confused why my 1 year renewal says it will expire in 2024 rather than 2025 (and the other options are also short 1 year)

Am I reading this wrong?

I'm new to SSUSA, not sure how far in advance this stuff is worked out. I know 2024 isn't over yet and I don't expect that 2025 events are planned out at this point. That being said, i have several non-softball (family) events in the early stages of planning for next year and wondering approx when 2025 events will be published? I'm hopeful to influence dates of family events sooner rather than later so i don't miss major SSUSA tournaments.

TIA

Discussion: ILLEGAL PITCH

According to the rulebook:

6.14. Illegal pitch. The umpire should call an illegal pitch when the ball is at its highest point less than 6' or over 12' above the playing surface.

I don't know anything about them but there are 3 leagues listed for Austin.

best advice is to try and find an event with demo bats so you can try a few. short of that, based on your comments, a balanced bat makes a lot of sense. You'll find that sr bats have more pop than what you were using. I'm a fan of Miken & Worth bats, the MIKE DILL ULTRA GAMER BALANCED SSUSA SENIOR bat is pretty sweet. Good control and ball jumps off the bat.

A friend is a distributor for Worth and told me that the new AT18 will be out later this year, i think he said in the fall.

Discussion: pitching screen placement

Larry - here is our current rule regarding net in front of pitcher:
12. PITCHER NET RULES:
• Pitcher’s Net will be placed 40 feet from the back of home plate, between the pitcher’s rubber and home plate. Pitchers must pitch from behind the net and the pitch must go over the net’s frame.
• Pitchers must remain behind the net until the batter makes contact with the ball. If a pitcher moves from behind the net to take a defensive stance outside the net before the batter makes contact with the ball, the pitch is ruled a “dead ball” and batter will be awarded first base and other runners will advance one base if forced to advance. The offensive team has the option to take the results of the play if the batter goes ahead and hits the ball. The catcher or either base coach can make the call that the pitcher was positioned outside the net before the batter made contact with the ball.
• Note that a batted ball hitting the Pitcher’s screen is a foul ball and treated as any other foul ball.
• On a called infield fly, if the ball hits the screen it will be a dead ball, the batter is called out and runners do not advance.
• On any other fly ball (not an infield fly situation), ANY batted ball that hits the screen before a fielder can touch it, it’s a FOUL ball.
• If a thrown ball by the defensive player hits the pitcher’s net during live play the ball remains LIVE.
• The ball will be DEAD if the ball becomes blocked in the net or in the box. If a runner beyond 3rd base has passed the commitment line, he will be awarded home. All other runners will return to the last base touched at the time of the blocked ball.

It is pretty new, has anyone swung the 2022 JOHNNY BAILEY ULTRA FUSION MAXLOAD SSUSA SENIOR BAT? i'm looking for something with a shorter barrel. The AT18 12.5 was nice, wondering how this compares.
