Discussion: Player Release ?

I have some questions on releasing a player so I’ll have to call the office. Mainly can a player release themselves from a team but not going to another team or does it have to be done through the team manager.

Pre-order shipping date has come and gone but their Major team (non-senior) didn't have them this past weekend in Florida either.

Discussion: WAYNE GILMORE MEMORIAL

My team was due to play this morning at 8am but Mother Nature had other ideas. It happens. We are also scheduled to play the Crabtown classic but this is the first I heard of out of state teams not allowed at that complex.

Thanks Tim and Mck71. My response wasn’t a complaint, this is my first senior event and wanted to understand why things were do a certain way. Some guys wondered as a completely new team how did we got put in the platinum pool. I have no issue playing anyone.

From what I hear here in NJ is one of the teams that moved to Major Plus here wants to move down. They won their last Major Plus tournament so I can’t see a move down being allowed, even though there was only one other Major Plus team entered. Kind of nullifies their request.

Discussion: 55 Major+ Teams

There may be 30 major plus teams over all age groups but for 50 major it’s really only 4 or 5. We’re a new team this year in the 50 Major but this weekend coming up in MD we are combined with the 55’s (Phoenix Tube and AAA teams). We don’t have to play Phoenix Tube in pool or bracket play but it could be an interesting weekend. This will be the first time we’ve played together as a team.

We have the same thing for men’s 50 at the Wayne Gilmore this weekend. The 55’s were moved in with the 50’s and then broken into pools and then a single elimination bracket. The two maj + teams that dropped down play a best of three against each other.

Like the previous posts I am waiting on an order of one. Proton is the new name as there was a conflict with another company and the bats had to be redone.

I liked the older Boombah turf models but don’t care for the current ones. NB makes some nice turfs and a lot of people wear them but I’m wearing Mizuno turfs this season.

My mistake, my classification as major was from SPA. I am assuming my SSUSA would be Major since I’m playing for a 50 Major team. I could appeal it after the season I believe.

This year being my first in senior ball I am classified major. The team I am playing for is 50 major so my classification was based on that as soon as I was listed on the roster.

Discussion: Lowering on Rear Leg during Stride & Coil, Key to Developing Power /Exit Speed SM158

I use to put very little leg drive into my swing, which wasn’t good for power or my back, then I learned to raise my front leg back, load my rear leg, and driving through the ball. Huge difference getting more mass through the zone on my swings.

Discussion: Infield fly rule......

If it’s a routine or of “ordinary effort’ the umpire should call the rule immediately. The only time I can see judgement applied is if the pop-up leads onto the outfield grass. If the fielder has to go a good distance into the outfield to make the catch then I would not call the rule.

Discussion: 3rd Base Commitment line

Most runners are usually far enough away from the baseline going towards home but if the catcher moves up the line and is in the process of fielding the throw and brushes the runner I would call the runner safe. I wouldn’t call obstruction. If he passed the commitment line and the catcher is not touching the plate/mat the runner is just safe. Pretty much all scenarios I would call the runner is safe unless the runner didn’t veer to the safety plate.

Hello. I am looking for an over 50 team for 2021 possibly in the Central Jersey / Monmouth county area of NJ. Age 52, can play infield and outfield. This is my first venture into senior ball and looking for contacts, any info is welcome.
