Discussion: Cancellation of Tournaments due to weather

Clearly there is no winner on either side. Because of expenses every team that went lost money and I’m sure SSUSA did also. Our team was one of the 11 teams that opted out. We did our homework on the weather forecast and it all came out the same not good. A friend of the team that lives in St George said no way would we play. I think the failure here was neither side took the weather forecast seriously. Yea we’ll lose our entry fee but the way the weather has been lately we will be more aware. Because of the expenses of traveling is first priority the weather forecast seems to be put on the back burner

Not much you can do about the weather Hope the tournament goes well. Funny I posted that my friends team canceled then a little later our manager notified our team that we were opting out. What can you do

Fiest thanks SSUSA for doing the survey. It shows you care about the thoughts of the players and teams . It will be a decision that has to be looked at carefully. My question is with Mesquite so close will it just go as posted fee wise and the 4 game guarantee . Again Thanks

Yes i agree the new format and the expense of traveling will be tough on everyone including SSUSA . My friends Scrapiron team just disbanded because of the changes and cost of traveling hope it's not a trend. Just have to see how it goes during the year

After watching 70 AAA in Phoenix I I have been surprised that a couple of teams that played have been able to stay down. Not complaining because SSUSA does a good job at watching this. I thought one team would be moved up just curiious SSUSA does a good job running tournaments and watching everything else not an easy job takes a lot of work

Discussion: LVSSA

So LVSSA and SSUSA divorce I agree with softball4b I do not care. As in most splits neither side can let it go. One side posted something on Facebook so the other side has to respond. Now teams, players choose sides and there are good and bad comments made on both sides. In a split there is always enough blame to go around. Just as in players and umps friction can occur. For me there are some umps I would hope they never ump our games but you play and move on why say anything. If a ump was truthful there are some teams they would rather not ump but they do an move on. LVSSA and SSUSA the split is done MOVE ON. Tourneys are still being played so what has changed.

I didn't realize that the Spring Worlds and the Southwest tourney were only 2 weeks apart. Money wise and trying to get time off if they work could be tough for some teams having to book 2 trips at one time. Not complaining but for a team like ours we will have to choose which one we go to. I know USSSA has to take what time they can. Too bad it didn't work out this year we were looking forward to playing both

I am glad there were no issues with players or spectators and I do not fault the people that I saw seeking shade it was hot I would rather see that then someone getting ill in all I thought the tournament went well

Well finally got to play a tournament in St George. Where we played the Umpires did a great job with the covid guidelines. They made sure we all followed the rules. Mask rules changed first couple of days but nothing major. One thing I saw that will always be a problem is social distancing. Yes it was HOT!!!. Everyone was seeking shade. We saw 25 to 30 players and spectators sharing shade elbow to elbow with and with out masks. Wives were sitting next to entrance of the dugout to get shade. Not complaining just saying social distancing will always be one of those things that will be hard to control at any event then add the heat makes it harder just an observation
