| Nov. 23, 2020 Popa | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Forfeit This question is from experience of this past weekend at Cesar Chavez Park 40s winter worlds. On 11/20 Friday night our team was forfeited at 702pm due to 8 players. We had player rushing from parking lot and others driving from hotels. Seed play had delays and we were told by our player at 640pm who waited around from our last game of 1230pm that we were playing at 7pm. We did not get a phone call, text, or digital upload of bracket to keep teams informed. As far as we knew Last game of seed play was at 630pm and that would determine who would be playing at 7pm. That was not enough time and we were expecting a grace period due to the delays, we would of been able to take the field with our 8 players and 2 from the parking lot. We requested director and decision was not changed and forfeit was given to us at 702. Coin flip would determined if we were the 8 batters to start or the 9th player would of entered the field during warm up. How can we in the future prevent this or what changes could be made or how else could we have handled this. |
