Well, when I am wrong I will admit it. the Hollywood fields are 1000 times better than a couple years back. The infields were recently completed and are, for Vegas fields, in very good shape. No more uneven surfaces or broken glass mixed in with the dirt, only saw one bad hop all weekend! The covered bleachers are nice, hopefully we will get to use them next time through which I expect to happen as we move away from COVID requirements here in Nevada. The best part was no longer having a mile roundtrip(a slight exaggeration) to use the restroom.

Umpiring was solid all weekend long, actually I would say it was more than solid in our games as there were no real calls that there was any dispute on in any of our games. Good job SSUSA on this weekend up at Hollywood for the 55AAA!

FOFO, have you been by the Hollywood fields? I have not had any luck finding anyone who has played up there since they were redone to get their opinion of their condition.

So maybe that is the difference between those that returned quickly and my taking the 9 months before hitting the field again. I came back and was able to run full speed without pain(until I over did it and blew out my other knee!)

The couple things this thread and in talking with friends and teammates who have gone through it says to me is, everyone is different in their ability to recover and rehab has to be done and done correctly and diligently!

Good luck with your surgery and recovery!

The warm springs fields are what they have always been, good but not great infields and occasional gopher holes in the outfield that pop up every night. But we hit out there each weekend and for Las Vegas the fields are in good shape, just whomever plays out there first each day have the outfields cover any new gopher holes and watch those hops at SS on field 8!

DavidGee24 Cheyenne and Hollywood are both real bad. A little more glass in the infield over at Cheyenne than Hollywood though. I would rather not play at either of those fields. I think the fields should be rotated between divisions, last time this tourney was actually played in Vegas I was in the 50's and we had to play over there, and this year the 50-AAA guys are back over there again.

Left total knee replacement and in 9 months was 100% back playing pain free for the first time in decades! My only advice is to be militant about the rehab and to push yourself hard and you will be rewarded. I have a few friends that went around the same time who did not push themselves and are in a much worse position now than before the surgery!

Lokahi, where did you see or hear about the 6 homeruns in 50-AAA? The schedule still says 3 per team.

Thanks

Dbax, 65+ divisions get Sunset and BLD, which is unfortunately the best this town as to offer, maybe with the addition of Arroyo. I do not think you would be happy if you got thrown out to Hollywood, worst fields in town and worst location.

Tim - Not discounting that the folks at SSUSA are working hard to put these things together, but we are paying just as much to play in this tournaments as the other divisions and seems because of our age and rating we get the shaft with field selection. My guess Tim is that you did not get stuck at Little Valley or are out at Hollywood this tournament, there comes a time when continually giving the same divisions the lousy draw starts impacting turnout, and since this is my division I do not want turn-out to start suffering. There are already multiple teams, mine included that are no longer going to St George if we get stuck at Little Valley every year, so it is already starting. Just my 2 cents, but just because of COVID should I lower my expectations? I don't do that at my company, do not let my employees do it, so I simply do not expect others to do it just to play, especially when playing on lousy fields increases injury risk and playing with grapefruits lowers the fun level.

wdodge22 - I don't know, I would take Shadow Rock or even Cheyenne over Hollywood! They are all bad, but Cheyenne and Hollywood are a hazard to just walk on the field!

Damn, 55-AAA gets jobbed again on the field assignments! Little Valley and the grapefruit balls for the St George tournament and now assigned to the absolute worst fields in the entire Las Vegas metro area, Hollywood!

Discussion: Upcoming St George Tournament Schedule 55+ AAA

Well, this weekend sucked! Hitting those grapefruits instead of the standard senior softball, while paying just as much as the teams that got to play at the Canyons did made for a horrible weekend. The balls were mush after about 4 innings, and if even a little breeze was blowing they would float like a wiffle ball on anything hit in the air. I know we will never play in a tournament if we have to hit those again, and in talking with a lot of other plyers on other teams, the feeling was mutual.

How about SSUSA puts some other ages/divisions out there instead of punishing the same age groups/divisions each tournament?

Looked at Proton's website and despite it not being listed as approved here it states it is SSUSA approved.

That may be true, but it also is not not the "disapproved bats" list. I smell a technicality!

Discussion: Upcoming St George Tournament Schedule 55+ AAA

A couple questions.

1) What softball are we using up there at the Fields at Little Valley? I heard due to homeowners complaining we have to use restricted flight balls?

2) Are al the games at Little Valley? The elimination bracket has Wednesday and Thursday at te Canyons listed, I am assuming the Weds/Thurs was a typo but are all the games for the 55AAA at Little Valley?

Thanks!
