Let's start with the positives : Great facility, albeit Summertime was not good with the heat. This would be an excellent facility for November thru March possibility :) Now the negatives which might be a little long. What has happened to SSUSA running tournaments as this weekend had a few issues. First the heat was an issue playing in the middle of the day with no nighttime playing when in fact there are lights there. Second was scheduling issues. Why a 4 team bracket needs to play 3 days is beyond me and should not have been dragged out for 3 days. Round Robin games scheduled over 2 days, WHY ???? Third was the umpiring crew. Boy I don't know where to start with this. Simply awful, lack of knowledge on the rules and the wasted time between innings spent trying to keep track of scoreboard was ridiculous. One ump told my team this was a teaching tournament because we have not played in so long and to get us to understand the rules again, REALLY. Too many issues where Tournament Directors had to waste time getting things straightened out. Again just my opinion so I understand if there's a difference of opinions as expected.

Let me say just 1 death is not good but the percentage rate for deaths from Covid-19 is .043 % (yes less than 1/2 %) of those infected actually die from this virus for state of Arizona. People saying virus is on the rise well yes it’s because more people are getting tested. I believe it’s actually less than 1% worldwide. All I can say it’s your right to stay home if you don’t feel safe or you come join us in Yuma for some great senior softball. I will not live in fear like the media would like you to believe. After current situation of protests, rioting & looting we will find out in about 2 weeks if it really spreads. Sorry but just my opinion.

Discussion: Looking to play So Cal state Championships in Yuma.

I'm a 60+ year old who lives in Yuma, Az. and looking to play 6/19 - 6/21 So. Cal State Championships. My current 55 AAA team is not playing this weekend so I would like to play on a 60's team. Anyone looking for an extra player give me a call, Pancho @ (928) 259-9646.

How soon we know if Yuma, Az. is definite and also what divisions would be scheduled there. Being from Az. it would be nice, less travel but i understand the logistics ?

There’s a senior tournament in Fountain Hills 1/25 & 1/26. Come check it maybe meet a team looking. It’s not a sanctioned tour. so you might be able to honk up and play with someone.

Discussion: How does a 55 major team who has their own 55 major division end up playing in a 50 major division

I agree with USMC21 that playing 6 straight games in 90+ degree heat is uncalled for when you schedule a 2 day tournament (Sat/Sun). Playing 2 Round Robin games and than a 3 game bracket to guarantee that each team gets a minimum 5 games is ridiculous. We had to play an "IF" game in bracket play just to get to our 5th game of the day. WHY ?????. It's a qualifier so there should not be any out of age / class bracket games unless there is less than 2 said teams in that particular age division. If you have not played SSUSA tournaments in Arizona you have no room to make a comment here. We that play here understand where USMC21 is coming from.
