| Sept. 16, 2026 SarahT50 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: SSUSA Worlds 2026 Session 3 Hi Dave, Respectfully, in April I questioned why the Women have mostly been put at Shadow Rock and Hollywood for the SW Championships and Worlds for the last 5-6 years. You and I reviewed the history and saw that the women do get put there more than any other location. You indicated that you would do your best to rectify that this time around but according to this post, women are yet again at those fields. I had hoped you would remember the post? I guess we will try again next year but it's disheartening that it's the same location over and over, dealing with the same conditions....farthest drive from most hotels, excessive wind, and little to no shade to be found if we don't bring our own. :( *sighing in a sad way. |

I stand corrected on two of the events but I'm referring both the SW Championships AND the World Tournament when I stated that 10 of 13 events since 2019 had us playing at either Shadow Rock or Hollywood. So instead of 10 for 13, we are 8 for 13. I'm not advocating for a specific location I just don't want to always be at Hollywood and Shadow Rock every event or every other event. There are 6 different sets of fields, so it surprises me that the W40-AAA gets one of those two parks at least once a year. 2019 Southwest Championship – Shadow Rock Worlds - Shadow Rock 2020 Southwest Championship Cancelled due to Covid Worlds (moved to Bullhead AZ) 2021 Southwest Championship – Arroyo Worlds - Hollywood/Shadow Rock (Fri/Sat), BLD (Sun) 2022 Southwest Championship – Hollywood/Shadow Rock Worlds – Desert Breeze 2023 Southwest Championship – BLD Worlds – Shadow Rock Fri & Sat., BLD Sun. 2024 Southwest Championship - Arroyo Worlds – Shadow Rock/Hollywood 2025 Southwest Championship – Russell Road/Arroyo Worlds – Shadow Rock/Hollywood 2026 Southwest Championship (LV) – Shadow Rock/Hollywood As noted, I do appreciate the amount of effort...just looking for some shade during the hot Vegas days and equal opportunity of field locations. | April 3, 2026 SarahT50 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Women's 40's AAA field assignments in Las Vegas SSUSA - First let me say I appreciate the work involved with figuring out field assignments and available fields in Las Vegas. However, I would like to know why is the Women's 40's AAA always getting assigned to play at Shadow Rock and/or Hollywood? I did a little research and since 2019, there have been 13 SSUSA tournaments in Las Vegas and 10 of the 13 events had the Women's 40's AAA division playing at Shadow Rock and/or Hollywood. We pay the same amount as everyone else and Hollywood has some of the worst fields in Las Vegas (especially the outfields), not to mention about as far North away from everything as you can get. When assigned there, we plan on having to haul tents & chairs because there are no trees/shade near any of the 3 fields. Shadow Rock has been renovated so at least the fields are supposed to be better (we'll see) but it has limited shade along the parking lot where there is a tree line to separate the field from the lot. It's also a logistic nightmare for most. Both fields experience strong winds most of the time too, which can make having a tent up for shade a bit of a challenge as well. Please don't give the excuse "it's because of the size of the division" because there are Men's divisions with the same or very close to the same amount of teams. Nor do I want to hear it's because you want to keep the women together as they have been split up numerous times and the 50's women always seem to be away from the 40s women divisions. I asked about this a few years ago and was told that you try to move the divisions around to make it fair but so far I haven't seen that. Maybe for 2026 World's it will change but I'm not holding my breathe. I'm sure I'm not the only woman that feels this way. Rant over.... |
