Aug. 27, 2022 Boro | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: 70+ looking to play with a team in Winter Worlds 2022 in Phoenix Some SSUSA teams just travel too much for me. I can play 3-4 Tourneys a year and keep it in my budget. As long as they are not too far away. |
Aug. 27, 2022 Boro | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: 70+ looking to play with a team in Winter Worlds 2022 in Phoenix Played Winter Worlds last year with Desert Bats, years before that I was on a Scrap Iron team. Played a Spiderz tournament at Cactus Yards in Gilbert and will be playing a Spiderz Tournament in Vegas in October. Spiderz tournaments if you're not familiar are a total mixture of ages anywhere from 18 on up and co-ed. I play locally here in the Green Valley/Tucson area. Being a member of the BAJA sporting club I do BP M,W,F & Sat. |
Aug. 26, 2022 Boro | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: 70+ looking to play with a team in Winter Worlds 2022 in Phoenix Live in Green Valley, AZ. I am 73. I have played Winter Worlds the last 3 years. I have also played 2 Spiderz Tournaments if you know what those are, one in Vegas other at Cactus Yards in Gilbert. I am looking for a team to play with this year in Winter Worlds in November in Phoenix. I play outfield, usually left, left center but will play any OF position if needed. However, don't like rotating between outfield positions every inning, but will sit an inning or two to give another player play time. |
Nov. 9, 2021 Boro | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking for team to play with in the Tucson Holiday Classic Dec 4-5, 2021 Team I normally play with is not putting a team in the tourney. I've played in 65+, now in 70+. I'll play any outfield position in this tournament. Normally play left or left center. Willing to also play 1st base. Already scheduled to play Worlds next week. |

Nov. 17, 2017 Boro | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Looking for a simple answer to adding or substituting players Let's say your team shows up short 1 player. Where does this player come from? A Pool? Can it be a player from a competing team that isn't currently playing? Which could be a better player than the one that didn't show up! Or from a different league that isn't currently playing? What is the correct rule for this type of substitution? Let's say 'in league play'. |
May 2, 2017 Boro | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Looking to start Chicago Style 16" No Glove softball in Southern Arizona I have talked to Al on the phone and tried to at the tourney and it seemed like he didn't have time for me. I am hoping to start something down in our area and eventually send a team or two up to his tournament. Along with currently being a Parks & Rec Commissioner in the town I live in and having played the game myself I'll see what I can put together. Thanks for your reply. Appreciate it. |
May 2, 2017 Boro | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Looking to start Chicago Style 16" No Glove softball in Southern Arizona Does anyone know of a discussion group or forum that includes the topic of Chicago Style 16" Softball. A couple weekends ago I drove to Mesa, AZ to watch a 16" softball tournament. Being from the Chicago area burbs I know this is a great game for everyone. I will approach my own 12" softball league to see if anyone is interested. I am hoping to get enough interest to request it be added to our towns annual softball leagues. I will be running ads in our local paper and waiting at a ball field on a weekend day. If anyone knows of a group that discusses this softball style let me know. I know most of the rules but am also looking for how it is being played in various places and how folks got it started. |
Feb. 22, 2017 Boro | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Staying behind the pitching screen Gathering from all the great responses this is not even a ASA rule? We have 2 separate leagues in our senior play. Competitive and Recreational. Recreational has to pitch over the screen, which is 6ft high and can't go higher than 12'. Competitive uses the screen purely for protection but pitches to the side of it. Like I said I haven't played in 20+ years so it's all new to me. All your answers do point to the fact that I was not able to find an ASA or Senior rule to deal with it. Appreciate all the quick responses!! OH! I should mention in our leagues any batted ball that hits the screen is a Dead Ball, neither a ball or a strike. Interesting uh? |
Feb. 21, 2017 Boro | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Staying behind the pitching screen Just got back playing after 20+ years. Question regarding the pitcher staying behind the screen after the ball is pitched. Q - Is it legal for the pitcher to pitch the ball over the screen then step to either side before contact is made? If it is not legal what is the call? I can't seem to locate it in the rules. |
