T2... I was simply letting you know what is done here Who are you to tell me what can and can't be posted in this forum??

You certainly are abrasive and like to argue and be right. Good luck with that. I'm out. It was a simple discussion. It's people like you that ruin a great conversation.

T2... no one wants to drill someone but you have every right to throw the ball as you normally would. The runner should either veer off or slide. Simple enough. If the runner veers to the pitcher side and the 2nd baseman comes across the bag to the inside and the runner is still in the way, its the umpire's judgement call.

A runner stopping and standing in the way IS impeding the throw to 1st base. Both FL sanctions in FL (FHC and ProAm) have a rule the the runner just can't stop. They have to peel off or slide. Seems to work well. Sure the umpires sometimes miss the call and the runner doesn't peel off and no double play is called. Umps are human too!

Simple solution... if the runner just stops and doesn't veer off just throw the ball and if you hit the runner, the runner at first should be out as well. The runner just simply stopping will think twice about it the next time he's in the situation.

We were taught that in HS and then it was reiterated in summer baseball in FL.

Discussion: BP swings

I am sure people are going to think I am nuts but here goes...

I have been hitting adidas bats for the last couple years. I mark each one with a roman numeral and I note how many swings I put on each bat after taking BP (with the newer bats) and after swinging my gamers. I wanted to see how many swings I get on the bats before they crack. Once the BP bats open up and I feel they are hot... I dont hit them in BP anymore. I guess you could say I have rolling inventory. lol

Turning... so you are going to have to ask every player that has been vaccinated to show proof so they can get a sticker? I certainly dont take people at their word regarding the pandemic. I am sure SSUSA will love having to manage something like that... NOT! lol

BTW... congrats on your daughter beating breast cancer and being 8 years without! That's awesome.

Just my 2 cents...

Wearing a sticker that says one has been vaccinated doesn't necessarily mean that they have. You are trusting people... ALL people and no doubt there are people out there that don't believe in the wearing of masks or getting the vaccination and certainly would wear a sticker to avoid wearing a mask when in fact they haven't had any vaccination. While I know this is most likely the minority that doesn't matter. Both my father and I play senior ball and I certainly don't want him around anyone that might unknowingly or knowingly have COVID and could possibly transmit it to him because they refuse to get vaccinated or wear a mask.

A 'sticker' doesn't cut it for me. I do NOT like wearing a mask but I do so because I choose to put others well being and health above my own. I personally had COVID back in September and I was lucky in that I didn't have it too bad. To me it is easier to comply and wear a mask regardless of my personal views or what the powers that be tell me to do.

Good luck with your 'choice' and hopefully we all remain healthy and can get past this pandemic sooner rather than later.

I used Boombah in the past and never again! Pick up a good pair of trail running shoes with aggressive tread on the bottom. You will get much better support on the instep and in the heel. I'm wearing adidas Response Trail Cloudfoam running show. Boombah has NO arch support and are incredibly cheaply made!! You get what you pay for when you spend $35. lol

Thanks Tim. Hard to understand that Mgrs don’t have a headcount before submitting to play or not notifying you when they intend to play. I saw that a 55 team dropped… assuming this was the one you mentioned with only 7 players.

Discussion: bat break in

You aren't picking SSUSA Staff! A lot of guys are playing with shaved and rolled bats that are delivered to them while still in the wrapper. I personally have never used a shaved bat and think that those that do should be banned for lengthy periods. The issue senior softball has is in proving that someone has a shaved bat and until something can be established to help determine that, it's going to continue.

Whatever happened to honor, integrity, and sportsmanship?

Hail... I think it all comes down to preference and how a bat feels when swinging it. I can say without a doubt that the best senior bat I have ever hit is the Melee 12 26oz EL. The ball absolutely jumps off the barrel but you have to be comfortable with a 12" barrel... since the sweet spot is smaller. I loved it so much that I bought a 2nd one a week after buying and hitting the 1st.

Good Luck!

I also hit the 15/16 Dudley Lightning and it cracked after a full year or use. I hit every weekend when not playing so I'd estimate I had 2000+ swings on it. I purchased another one in 16... 34/27 balanced. Its still in my bag and going strong. I also have the Melee 2 34/26 EL as well as 2 of the Melee 12 34/26 EL. The Melee 12 hits so well I grabbed a 2nd one after hitting BP with it. Good luck with whatever you choose to swing!

Fred... agreed. Hit the bat to break it in... rolling it in your hands between every swing.
