March 26, 2026 DJ12	Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Safety of players @Zeke06, We played you in that morning game, and although no one ever intends it, balls do get hit back up the middle from time to time. In this particular game there were at least four balls that easily could have injured the pitchers. The fix was simple: delay the start by about 30 minutes so the sun could rise high enough for the catcher to make a normal throw back to the pitcher instead of rolling it. That small adjustment would have made the game much safer for everyone on the field.

March 11, 2026 DJ12	Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Bracket Placement Why would a 60 Major team that finished 8th at Worlds, and was then bumped to Major+, be placed in a 55 Major bracket (with only three teams) for our first tournament of the year, especially when there are eight 60 Major teams already in the 60’s bracket? Just trying to understand the reasoning behind this placement. Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Jan. 29, 2026 DJ12	Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: rerating Dave-not questioning your last entry, I find it a bit odd. We finished "Tied for 6th" at worlds and were bumped. Told it was because of our run differential throughout the year. Not questioning your response above, I think there needs to be a specific set of rules that a team has knowledge of. Just my .02

March 29, 2025 DJ12	Topic: Bats Discussion: OG Bats Thought I would ask the question here. Why don't bat manufacturers go back to make their OG bats> I'll use Dudley as an example. Their original lightning bats were amazing. Why stop making them? Now you see them selling for 4-5 times what they cost new. Why not just make more of the OG's? tyia

And I also understand it is a business for many folks, but why not cut back on the number of tournaments so you have more teams at each tourney? Just my .02/

July 28, 2024 DJ12	Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Ruling If a player hits the ball to the outfield, thinks he can take two, realizes he is going to be tagged out so purposely misses second and continues to third, and the defense does not throw to third (just holds the ball), how do you declare the out? Is this a dead ball out? Does the defense only need to throw the ball to second and tag the base? tyia
June 2, 2024 DJ12	Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Home team advantage Hey Dave, I'm always seeing discussions and in those discussions (from time to time) there is a refernece to voting. Why is that number so low, why aren't the managers (or even players) asked for their opinion, and maybe they are. Anyone that pays dues should be considered a "member" of USSSA and have a vote. Just my .02
May 24, 2024 DJ12	Topic: Bats Discussion: Bat Tester Thanks Bones505, curious to see where this goes. Does not sound like an exact science, specifically for folks who have had their bat for awhile and it fails due to usage only. Hopefully it is not another gimmick to force folks to buy new bats like when they changed the approved logo. Just sayin.
