July 28, 2024 DJ12 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Ruling If a player hits the ball to the outfield, thinks he can take two, realizes he is going to be tagged out so purposely misses second and continues to third, and the defense does not throw to third (just holds the ball), how do you declare the out? Is this a dead ball out? Does the defense only need to throw the ball to second and tag the base? tyia |
June 2, 2024 DJ12 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Home team advantage Hey Dave, I'm always seeing discussions and in those discussions (from time to time) there is a refernece to voting. Why is that number so low, why aren't the managers (or even players) asked for their opinion, and maybe they are. Anyone that pays dues should be considered a "member" of USSSA and have a vote. Just my .02 |
May 24, 2024 DJ12 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Bat Tester Thanks Bones505, curious to see where this goes. Does not sound like an exact science, specifically for folks who have had their bat for awhile and it fails due to usage only. Hopefully it is not another gimmick to force folks to buy new bats like when they changed the approved logo. Just sayin. |
May 21, 2024 DJ12 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Bat Tester Maybe if I start a separate thread, I'll get an answer. What does a tester determine? What does 140 mean? What if a bat test is under or over 140? What does that really mean? Looking for a clear explanation of what a tester really does. |
May 14, 2024 DJ12 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Am i wrong to think this way Can anyone explain what a bat tester is? What does it mean when you say a bat "failed"? Failed what? Do you keep testing bats until you have one that "passes"? tyia |
May 9, 2024 DJ12 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: New Bat testing standard I think someone needs to let everyone know what teh difference is between a bat testing above 170 or below 140. What does that really mean? |
April 23, 2024 DJ12 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Process for Scheduling Tournament Schedules and Venues I know this is not what you were looking for in this post. I really enjoyed the tourney. Beautiful complex, yes, the fields were a bit large, and it was a bit chilly Saturday. But all in all, I would play again. |
March 30, 2024 DJ12 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Batter Box Rule This is a tough one for sure. This rule makes no sense as histircally since the inception of the batters box rule you were ok as long as both feet stayed in the box. Either do away with the batters box or stay with the rule that's been in place for centuries (I exaggerate) |
March 14, 2024 DJ12 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Tournament technology There are tournaments from last year and previous years that still dont have winners posted. I would not expect to much her guys, it's been this way since inception. |

Dec. 24, 2023 DJ12 | Topic: Bats Discussion: New rule on shaved bats hawkjms...well said. Where do we draw the line. If we are talking about safety, then let's look at all aspects. ASA balls, aluminum bats, proper rankings, the list goes on and on. But I dont think we are talking about safety here, becuase it costs money to be safe, and there is not one organazation that is truly willing to to have this conversation to it's core. BTW, many, many pitchers get hurt with non-shaved bats way more than shaved bats. Yes, you look good talking about it, but fix the entire problem and not a very small portion of it. Just my .02. |

July 5, 2023 DJ12 | Topic: Bats Discussion: usssa bats Looks like this policy changes Nov 1, if I'm reading the policy corrrectly. |
May 21, 2023 DJ12 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Tournament Updates General question: why dont tournament directors update on line results during (or even after) the tourney? Is it an SSUSA requirement? If not, why? |
Jan. 2, 2023 DJ12 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Llerandi Custom Gloves. Llerandigloves.com I see many gloves on this website for almost $300, yet you bash the store bought $300 gloves? What makes your $300 gloves premium buys? BTW, you have some sick gloves. |
Nov. 27, 2022 DJ12 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Pinch Hitter Thanks everyone, this was an interesting conversation. So you know, pitcher B came into the game for a defensive player and not pitcher A (although he did come in to pitch). So it would appear all rules were followed. |

Nov. 21, 2022 DJ12 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Pinch Hitter Scenario: new pitcher comes into the game top of 5. At the bottom half pitcher that entered the game in the top half is first to bat. Team subs for a pinch hitter (I thought you had to make a plate appearance before you could get a pinch hitter), team announces the number of the pinch hitter and he is entered into the game. The team then decides that they want the pitcher to bat, my guess is they new there was a rules violation. Here's my question, once the pinch hitter is announced aren't they required to bat? And in this case it's possibly an out because the pitcher is required to bat. Thoughts? |
