Where can we find the updated brackets for 55 Major this morning (Saturday Sep 18)?

Agree. Saturday’s washout was unfortunate. Should have full games in light of only being allowed to play one game on Sunday. Completely understand limited schedule but restricting games to single elimination bracket with only three teams and then further restricting to a 40 minute game was overkill. My team also only played 3 innings. Some of my teammates got 1 at bat in the championship.

3 day schedule
A day of leave from work
$300 in expenses (hotel, gas and food)
Ability to buy my rings - priceless.

Congrats to Ohio Elite on the championship. They are an impressive squad. We happened to play, and lost to each of the top three teams this weekend and throughly enjoyed the competition. Needless to say, we are all tired and sore having lost our first bracket game (Ohio Elite) and making it to Sunday. Eleven games over 4 days will do that to you. Since I'm a glutton for punishment I'll be back in a couple of weeks for the 50 Majors.

Discussion: Texas State Championships turnout

As Dave mentions quite frequently, this is an economic decision. Many teams have limited resources so the selection as to which tournaments to attend is often based on several competing factors. Be that as it may, we all make decisions using various criteria and in every case, cost is a factor in the decision making. Because the Texas State Championship (TSC) is in El Paso, my two teams have concluded that our money is better spent in tournaments that are economically more practical. Of note, on this particular weekend, most of the 50 Major teams in Texas decided to play in College Station.

Some comments in this thread alluded to some of us whining. This is not the case. It truly represents the Voice of the Customer (VoC). Many of us would like to compete for the TSC as it should reflect a significant achievement amongst some of the best competition in Texas and the country, for that matter. What we are actually stating is we want to play in the TSC but for many reasons choose other alternatives. Secondly, to the comments that I should figure out the agreement with the various municipalities is laughable but certainly intriguing. I still work full time but if SSUSA should offer me a position with decent compensation then I might reconsider. LOL!

Good luck to all in El Paso! Dave is spot on with his comment that regardless of the teams in play, the memories of competing and hopefully winning will last a lifetime.

With that turnout, maybe you might want to reconsider central Texas for the TSC. You would double the number of teams in Austin, Georgetown, San Marcos, Harker Heights, Killeen, Dallas, etc. I know your response will be no city submitted a bid on the event but it seems odd to me that GSA/USA, SPA, ISSA, etc., can successfully put on large tourneys in Central Texas. Hell, we have teams put on one day fundraiser tourneys with better turnouts than what you have in El Paso. #bringbackthetsc, #legitmizethetexasstatechampionship Lol

Discussion: TOC determinations

How are tournaments classified as a TOC? In Texas, the only TOC will be the Texas State Championship (TSC) in El Paso this April. The consensus amongst my network is that not many Texas teams will travel to El Paso again this year for this tourney. Will SSUSA consider a better alternative for the coveted TOC? I opine that the Aggieland Classic or Heart of Texas will likely draw a more representative sample of Texas teams than the El Paso TSC. Last commentary, having the TSC in April is not when most teams hit their stride in Texas. I know April is ideal for El Paso because it’s less hot, but for the rest of the state we are barely into the season. You would think a “state championship” would represent a milestone for a season as an achievement. Having the April “Championship” in Texas is akin to spring training winners.

Discussion: 1 and 1 with courtesy foul new rule for younger guys

I just played in a USSSA National tournament that had some distinct differences in game play. They used a net to protect the pitcher, lower pitch limits in heights, allowed faking in delivery of pitches and a 1-1 starting count. Every single game that I played in and observed went the 7 innings unless abbreviated by run rule. The amount of action was much more constant and made for an enjoyable game. I have to say I was not a proponent of the net but after playing games with it this past weekend I see no issues. It actually created some new dynamics to the game that one can use both offensively and defensively. My point being, give these new rule changes a chance before drawing judgements. If you are open minded, you might be in for a pleasant surprise.

Discussion: TX STATE CHAMPIONSHIP-

Dave,
I made an observation about the tone of the SSUSA responses and you were obviously offended.

I don't consider myself part of what you claim is the "anonymous keyboard courage" posters. My name is Jerry Stotts and I play with Tex Vets. As you might ascertain, I am a vet and I value and defend the free speech and your rights to limit them on your "home". I personnaly don't understand why you called me out in the previous comment but again that is your right. BTW, I am not part of any crew. I speak for myself and I'll take the credit for the "hilarious" comment.

Cheers,
Jerry

Discussion: Fields at Shadow Rock

Gotta agree with the comment regarding San Antonio fields. It's a shame that we no longer have great fields like they do in Vegas. The best complex we had (Sports Park) was sold to a school district. We seniors play on arguably the worst fields in San Antonio (Normoyl).

Nice that 50 AAA gets playing time at BLD. The biggest draw to Vegas should get a priority to play on best fields.

Discussion: Vegas 50's Fields

Played first time in Vegas last October. Gotta say fields were not that great. Obviously it's a capacity issue with AAA having such a large number of teams. Why is it necessary to have 50 Majors and Majors + play the same weekend?

Definitely needed to be implemented for the Worlds. We waited way too long to see the results for the 50 AAA. This would be a great enhancement to the overall experience!

Agree this is odd. There are a lot of us that still work for a living and taking a paid day off just adds to our costs. Hopefully this is an oversight as I'm balking at potentially playing on a Monday. BTW, we are the defending 50 AAA champs (formally The Cartel now Tex Vets).
