AJC I’m not sure Pleasanton is going to have tournaments at all in 2020
They had already canceled the spring leagues and I received an email a few
days ago that they’ve decided to just go ahead and cancel the summer/fall leagues as well.

I’ve not seen/heard any official word as far as tourneys go. NCSSA probably
has about half a dozen events there a year. All-World and GSL also have a couple there too. First time since 1981 I won’t be playing league of any kind.

Playing last weekend at Carson and saw a few of these sticks. Doubt they’re made by DeMarini as the handle area leading into the barrel is much different than any two piece I’ve seen. Very thick compared to others. As far as performance...some serious exit velo coming off these things. And, they were literally “ out of the wrapper “ as I saw a couple players take them off and directly into games.

Also like the fact they offer heavier models. Up to 30.5
Strongly considering getting a 29.5 of the 12” model. Just
hope they don’t add weight to the knob/handle area the heavier
you go up like Adidas.

Discussion: coaching shorts

Gonna need a time machine so you can go back to the 80's ;)
Seriously though, ebay/amazon has them.Just put coaches shorts
in the search bar and several will pop up. Bike if I remember was
the primary brand. For specific team style/color scheme I used
to buy the pants in whatever color my team was and had them made
into shorts. Any alteration place can do it in a couple days.

Eazy..Back then, where in Hayward did you play? Centennial or
Mt Eden? I was at Mt Eden playing coed on Friday nights. Unlimited
HR's back then too. 3 or 4 bombs every game. I remember being scared as hell pitching when those things came out.

Discussion: Bat / Ball and Association

Most of the senior players would not like it if we went to a 52/300 ball. However, if they ever did go to that ball you would definitely want to use one of the newer ASA only bats as Helmer said. If you watched any of those games between Monsta and SIS you saw very few HR's. I believe none of the 5 games saw a double digit score. And that is with guys like Harvey, Pearson and Purcell playing.

The senior bats still hit that ball pretty good but not like one of the Monsta, flipper/aftermath or the new Miken/Worth ASA only bats.

I remember those. Want to say it had a 10" barrel.
The one I swung was a red/maroon color I think.
Good bat if you could adjust to the short barrel.
It had a pretty hefty end load too.

We didn't play them in Vegas but we played them 3 times
at the Western Worlds. I don't remember any HR's like that.
Then again, the Xrock is a far livelier ball than what we
use the rest of the year.

Discussion: SSUSA Staff: Shaved Bats

If the pass/fail for USSSA bats is 220, what would a senior pass/fail be..200?
Like Benji4 said, very tough to tell by sound on senior sticks. But, a crappy,
lackluster looking swing can raise eyebrows. Like a lot of you I was in Reno last weekend and saw a few of those. I know it's in altitude but still.

What percentage of bats are shaved? IDK for sure but more than a couple I'd guess.

I play league with a guy who provides "the service" and I asked him if senior
bats ever come through? "More than you think" he says.

IMO the only 100% way to make sure everything is stock is to have a
bat provided tourney format. Seriously doubt that would ever happen but
at least there would be no questions.

Thanks for the results TM.
I'd think only a team from AAA division
would have a chance at playing more given
the amount of teams they had. I can't imagine
the soreness I'd be feeling today. We would have
played you guys yesterday morning at 9:30 but lost
to the Dawgs(AZ)
I play with Bad Seed. Good tourney by you guys.

Discussion: Legal bat for play?

3.4(3) • APPROVED BATS
All bats marked "1.21 BPF" (Bat Performance Factor) or less, SSUSA approved
bats, or bats having an ASA 2000 or 2004 stamp are approved for use. Any bat
displaying the label "Exceeds 1.21 BPF" is not approved. The rating must be
clearly visible on the bat, or it must be obvious to the inspector that the bat is
of an age to make it not high-tech. Effective with the 2014 playing Season, any
new bats introduced by bat manufacturers after 2013 must be clearly and
permanently marked “Approved for SSUSA Use”, or similar, by permanent
sticker, etching or imprint.

This is right from the rule book. If I read it right then the
bat in question is legal since it is marked BPF 1.20..less than
1.21

Discussion: Using one ball for all games

If they would use a different cover on the Stote, that would
help with performance. Leather or composite. Playing in Manteca
last weekend with the Baden Fire(2SB550YS)
100+ on both days. 102 on Saturday when I left and balls still
flying. It's listed as a composite cover and feels much thinner. Probably why you see so many get nicks/tears.

Should add that some sites list the Baden as a composite while
some list it as synthetic. Definitely a thinner cover than any
other softball I have.
