| March 4, 2025 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: March 8th/9TH Sacramento STPA Opener Scratching my head wondering why most of the groups have 4 teams and can't play it in one day. Director 101 4 teams all games can be done instead of 2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Waste of a weekend gas and expenses for hotels. Play some divisions on Saturday and others on Sunday. Take less teams 4 fields up to 4 Teams 3 Pool play games and then 2 Bracket games 1stvs 2nd and 3rd vs 4th and your done by 6p. I'm sure others feel the same way and will probably think about signing up for another event due this type of customer treatment. |
| Feb. 25, 2025 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Baden Softballs We use the Baden ball in our Senior League and it gets dirty and hard to see, not a good performing ball against others out there. The Dudley Hardcore is a great ball or the Onyx Energy Plus is great as well and doesn't get as dirty as the Baden. the Baden ball will be a safety hazard when we can't see it and take it off the head. |
| Feb. 18, 2025 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Baden Softballs Being a Director up in NorCal and having used and hit the Onyx PROM and the Energy+ the ball was decertified as more than 1% were not passing compression and this was done at 2 different testing locations. The Energy+ ball has a little different core to it than the Energy ball take that for what its worth. The + was not USSSA approved at this time so we were not able to use it due to legal issues. Hopefully Elite/Onyx can get the ball updated and certified as it was a good ball, but much hotter than some at this time. |

| Aug. 4, 2024 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Last Chance Qualifier Thoughts Tim, I agree with you on some points but teams in California only border a few States and the team I am on doesn’t have deep pockets to fly in players maybe that needs to be looked at more discreetly. Some teams are local and pick up players who played previously on the team didn’t like where they went and got a higher tag and would like to come back. Everyone knows you can see where the team is from and where the player is from and make a rationale decision as to get you need to play in this Last. Chance event or no we know who the player is and his past history and make a proper decision. I’m just trying to help with options and think a little more outside the box. We know you know those teams that have access to the players that they will fly in I believe it’s more so in the Major and Major Plus division but just my opinion. Sure you have used this rationale for 30 years but over time tweaks here and there should be brought to the table and discussed what can SSUSA do to maybe make it fair and within reason. Maybe what worked years ago needs to be looked at as times have changed. |
| Aug. 4, 2024 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Last Chance Qualifier Thoughts Little confused with the reply if a team has a Major spot left on a AAA team in the same age group how would that impact the overall rating if they fit the 3 Major on a AAA team they should be able to add but put a rule in place that player is locked on the roster for the remainder of the season. Why make teams play if they fit the overall player guidelines the event teams will show up play one game leave and how does that impact the rest of the days schedule? Teams are not there to win the event they are there to fulfill the player eligibility requirements and leave without any players being injured for upcoming Worlds. There should be more discussion on this to make it work for all. |
| Aug. 4, 2024 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Last Chance Qualifier Thoughts Why is the Last Chance Qualifier needed? Mon ey Grab or other alternatives??? Options to consider. 1) If a team has an open spot for example a 55AAA team has a Major spot open then they should at anytime be able to pick up said player. That player who played during the year on a 55 Major team may not have fit in with that team and has decided to go another avenue, why should he be penalized if he has played in the 2024 season in the SSUSA program. Just like any other organizations if a team has room for another player a level above let them pick that player up, why go thru all this red tape to make him eligible. 2) If a player has not participated in any 2024 SSUSA events then yes the Last Chance Qualifier is where said team would need to play to get that player or players eligible on the roster. There needs to be some thought behind this. Teams just played National and the following week they now have to play again to qualify players, these options would help benefit everyone. Especially with limited field space and the amount of teams. Also, if to qualify a player he needs to check in take one at bat then that team has met the requirements and can leave after the first game which would basically mess up further scheduled games and and not save you any money on field rental since the city already has a schedule of games provided and park staff on hand. Just my two cents worth. |
| Jan. 26, 2023 SKings24 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: 4 game tournaments In NorCal they run 3 Game Pool Play into Single Elim so teams get 4 games minimum and charge less and give out better prize packages. So to say the fee should be over $500+ is ridiculous. Cut down on staff needed at certain events, some times I see a number of staff their just sitting around only takes one to update scores and answer questions, depending on field totals and team counts |

Just returned yesterday so was not going to post since I was doing far better things when not playing... Overall the ball was MEH. We played a total of 6 games and hit 4 homeruns total, played at Arroyo Grande, Sunset and BLD. Rotated balls as much as we could to keep a fresh one in, at least we didn't have to buy extra balls like years past since we never lost any at BLD, normally buying an extra dozen or two. Over all out of 5 Stars would give it a 2 at the most. I can say the ShortPorch ball is much better and I will be using it in my local events. But when you need mass quantity you take what you can get. |

Our Senior League uses the Baden Fire and it compares to the Worth WSL ball they have been using. To bad they couldn't link up with Short Porch the ball holds up well in the heat and good feedback when used. But they could be out of them and SSUSA needs over 500 dozen |

| Aug. 28, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Player Rankings & Team Rosters This is the hidden agenda make teams feel certain players who should be Major Plus last year are now ranked as Major this year putting us to think what is going on and how did this happen. At least the other associations are open and honest to what a player is rated. Not hard to post the Name and Rating of each player and when they get re-rated it gets updated for all to see. Its not Personal Data as you call it. Seems like SSUSA has its own agenda and the sheep will follow. |
| Aug. 26, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Player Rankings & Team Rosters I know we will see excuses as to why but if other associations can do it why not SSUSA 1) Post team roster I feel all teams should be able to see rosters across the board and player rankings 2) Player Rankings as all coaches should be aware of who they can or can't pick up. Too many times players are getting re-ranked and they have no idea. Major team at their limit of Major Plus and no idea a certain player(s) have been re-ranked to Major. Puts teams behind the 8 ball when building a competitive roster. Seems as tho information is hidden and coaches are not given the tools to build a proper team, or players questioning teams rosters as they know the previous year certain players played Major Plus but didn't hold the rank. THus not being able to let thier coaches know players are available. |

State Championships on June 12-17 in Sacramento LCLMOTION22 - All I can speak on is the Alameda County and others in the Bay Area may not have Softball at all, I have parks that I use and this is the information I am getting. So I am looking for parks where the restrictions have been or will be lifted fairly soon. As for the Nationals I can speak on that, not going to start rumors as that is over a month away so anything can happen. I have contacts at my various parks in Elk Grove and Sacramento. Elk Grove may come online shortly as for Sacramento I heard nothing thru June. I am only sharing what I know from my communication. |
