May 12, 2022 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Ball Provided for Rock N Reno Would you be able to post what type of ball will be used at Rock N Reno in case we have some of our own to bring? I read somewhere it would be a Worth Ball but which model? Appreciate your time |
Aug. 28, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Player Rankings & Team Rosters This is the hidden agenda make teams feel certain players who should be Major Plus last year are now ranked as Major this year putting us to think what is going on and how did this happen. At least the other associations are open and honest to what a player is rated. Not hard to post the Name and Rating of each player and when they get re-rated it gets updated for all to see. Its not Personal Data as you call it. Seems like SSUSA has its own agenda and the sheep will follow. |
Aug. 26, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Player Rankings & Team Rosters I know we will see excuses as to why but if other associations can do it why not SSUSA 1) Post team roster I feel all teams should be able to see rosters across the board and player rankings 2) Player Rankings as all coaches should be aware of who they can or can't pick up. Too many times players are getting re-ranked and they have no idea. Major team at their limit of Major Plus and no idea a certain player(s) have been re-ranked to Major. Puts teams behind the 8 ball when building a competitive roster. Seems as tho information is hidden and coaches are not given the tools to build a proper team, or players questioning teams rosters as they know the previous year certain players played Major Plus but didn't hold the rank. THus not being able to let thier coaches know players are available. |
June 3, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Northern Cal. State Championships on June 12-17 in Sacramento LCLMOTION22 - All I can speak on is the Alameda County and others in the Bay Area may not have Softball at all, I have parks that I use and this is the information I am getting. So I am looking for parks where the restrictions have been or will be lifted fairly soon. As for the Nationals I can speak on that, not going to start rumors as that is over a month away so anything can happen. I have contacts at my various parks in Elk Grove and Sacramento. Elk Grove may come online shortly as for Sacramento I heard nothing thru June. I am only sharing what I know from my communication. |
June 2, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Northern Cal. State Championships on June 12-17 in Sacramento LOL, lets just say we agree to disagree, I knew from my park contacts well in advance during the week. Since you only had two parks listed Sac Complex or Foskett those were not going to happen per the county and Elk Grove where I host events was not open yet per guidelines. So the percentages are the other way. But we are good it all was cancelled per the guidelines the counties have in place. We all as directors want to run events but its going at a snails pace to get parks up and some counties won't even open until after the Summer time, which makes it even more difficult. |

May 28, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Northern Cal. State Championships on June 12-17 in Sacramento Not spreading a rumor this is actual truth from a person at the facility. I have valid contacts from those areas. Not trying to be negative Nelly just posting what I have received. Its just one park. |
May 28, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Northern Cal. State Championships on June 12-17 in Sacramento Reliable source has told me that Sac Complex is closed thru the month of June |
May 14, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Rock in Reno tournament Definitely too soon to be playing especially removing bleachers and benches I know for sure no games will be at Golden Eagle. So think of the other fields and how they are kept up. I can't make it due to not being able to get the Friday off. But not to heartbroken about it. Sorry just not feeling the softball vibe right now. |
May 12, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Reno Tournament I heard Phase 3 is when they may consider allowing events, but that is all I heard, that could be July or August. |
May 12, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Rock in Reno tournament I have a great connection in Sparks and was told Golden Eagle more than likely won't open until July, It will be part of Phase 3. This is what I was told from a reliable source. I honestly don't see any softball until July or even August depending what State you are in. I am in Northern California and run events for an organization so I have had some communication with the parks I deal with. Yes we all want to get back to playing but its not as simple as that. Precautions need to be put in place and provided to all teams for them to either jump on board or decide against it. |
Feb. 20, 2020 SKings24 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Rock N Reno 50 Major Where will they be Playing Want to make Hotel reservations but not sure if its going to be in Sparks or Carson City for the 50 Major. Any updates would be helpful. |
Nov. 7, 2019 SKings24 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Why 2-day Todd and Dave my name is Brian gregoire and I have been running the 40's and now trying to get the 50's to start playing in my events that I offer. Baby steps on the 50's but have had a few teams even play in the 40AAA and they enjoyed it helps them get better and provide different teams to play against instead of the same teams over and over again and we mirror the Homerun rules used in SSUSA so teams can stay consistent when they get ready to go play the big events. My website is usssastrong.com and I have a Senior only link it will be updated by mid December so keep checking for updates. We have a few events from now until end of year at BLD or Mistlin. Hope to see more 50's teams jump over we offer Cash Awards as teams are just tired of the shirts helps offset some entry fee costs for those teams that place in that are. Yes looking forward to what USSSA will be offering for the Senior program will be getting updated in the next few weeks from the Western Region Director. Floridas new complex is state of the art all Turf fields I am definitely pushing my team to book that trip and experience it |
Oct. 30, 2019 SKings24 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Use one up for home runs this year Always hear lets not make it more difficult for our umpires, they don't play the game they enforce the rules as written. So if the Equalizer Rule is approved it shouldn't make their job any harder than what it is already. Some at this time are still confused by any rule that is easy to understand. This is what scorekeepers are for to validate what has been happening. If a scorekeeper can't help then the umpires decision is final. For me I don't understand why a 50 Major Team gets less Homeruns than a 40 Major team it should be equal or the 50's should get one more than them but to get lees seems like they are looking down on the older divisions. We all enjoy playing the game and it should be fair across the board. Just my 2 cents worth. |
Oct. 30, 2019 SKings24 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Why 2-day Todd, I have been running Senior events for the 40's primarily and trying to get the 50's involved now that I am now playing 50's occasionally. I am under USSSA and we allow everything just like SSUSA, but understand teams don't want to plat two days and strictly run 1 day events. we have a great following and utilize a Pool Play format or the 3gg bracket. We like to have a true winner as 1 game shouldn't define the outcome all teams have a bad game. You can view our schedule at usssastrong.com if interested. This is for Northern California. |
Oct. 6, 2019 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Initial Coin Flip Rule So that is the problem the umpire was assigning Heads to team A and Tails to team B which is not how it should go. Do a flip to determine who calls the initial toss for Home. That takes it right out of the teams hands. Minor things like this impact the game in the end as Home has its importance. |
Oct. 6, 2019 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Brackets No Clue So bracketing in the 50 Major in Vegas was extremely wacky. Why play for top seeds if you don’t get a better game time going into bracket play. Sure the #1 seed had the latest game but Seeds 2 and 3 had to play at 8a where Seeds 4 and 5 got the 9:30a game. Then when you won your last loser game on Friday the winner came back at 8a where the Loser got the 11a game. Something just doesn’t seem right in the way teams are rewarded. So basically we should have played to lose to get the later game on Saturday morning instead of being penalized by winning. No integrity in the bracketing area. Anyone else have this same type of issue? |
Oct. 6, 2019 SKings24 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Initial Coin Flip Rule Is the coin flip the decision of the umpire or is it stated somewhere in the rules as each umpire we had used their own spin on it. |
Sept. 24, 2018 SKings24 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: 50 major schedule in vegas What's even worse since I have friends who played last week in the 55's it was a bad experience. 4 days and some teams were out Friday. I have a flight back on Monday so if we happen to get put out on Friday I have to sit there until Monday. Ridiculous more money spent and time lost from work and families. 4 days for a tournament is to long and not even USSSA the biggest association has 4 day events. I enjoy playing in Vegas but increasing the days is just not good for us working class people. |
