Discussion: 11 Players For 65 Brackets

It's so easy to see how the 11th man mess with some peoples minds. I personally gave up looking at the defense before my at bats. Who cares where the defense plays or how many people are or are not on the field.
Just remember the batter is on the offense. He has ultimate control over the final result, not always but most of the time.
I don't know how many line drives I've hit to left center for outs. I don't blame the fielder, it's part of the game. Get that 11th man out of your head and you'll be better off for it.

65 AAA team looking for a SS, glove first, hitting would be a bonus.
We play about 6 SSUSA tournaments a year, good vibe amongst the team.

I think anyone complaining about the 11th fielder for 65's is to short sighted about the game to begin with.
Slowpitch is just not ALL ABOUT OFFENSE.
If your team is scoring less runs or you're not hitting your normal average then you let it get into your head.
Defensively it is not that easy to play that extra 11th man position. It is unnatural especially for those 65 teams who have had only a season to try to adjust to the extra player. Our team struggled all year to find the right combination especially with communication.
If anyone as a hitter struggled then get it out of your head and try and become a better hitter instead of a bitter hitter.

Baden ball is just fine. I hit two home runs and could have had a third but it was into the wind 65AAA and I'm not normally a HR hitter. Bruce M maybe you should hit the gym. It's definitely no pillow.

Discussion: The new Senior Baden ball.

Bandyleg you stated that there is a a loss of 5 compression rating for every 1 degree of rise over 70.
Played our senior league in Fresno 2 weeks ago where it was 114 degrees at our 6 o clock game.
We hit a 52/300 ball so that means the compression on that ball was 125 according to your statement.
At that rating it would be equal to hitting rolled up socks and nothing past the pitcher.
Well hard line drives were still being hit so I'd like to see a link for your formula.

Discussion: Batter interference

BT40 here's a scenario to your scenario.
Runner on first, batter hit a pop up that is basically going to land on top of the bag at first, the runner stays put on first.
First baseman calls for interference, what's the call?
The call is let the play continue since the runner at first is allowed to occupy the bag and does not have to yield to the fielder.

Discussion: Batter interference

I would say no interference for now, let me explain.
There was no intent on the batter to interfere based on his judgement/hope the ball would go foul.
Since the catcher is behind the batter it is up to the catcher to take a route needed that did not have to include the batter, unless he was also hoping for an interference call all along.
The batter is allowed to occupy his space even in the batters box, if there was intent to block the catcher then yes batter out. If there's no intent (based upon the umpires decision) then play continues.

Discussion: Player ranking

So if a player plays in two tournaments in 2023 at a lower age group and gets the next higher rating does that rating carry over into his/her 2024 rating?

Discussion: Player ranking

I'm going to chime in before hearing from Dave or Tim.
Why penalize a team or players if someone decides to play DOWN in an age group or even two by increasing their player rating?
If someone is rated a certain rating then that rating should not change regardless.
If a player is 69 years old on a 65 team and plays on a 60's team where the youngest player could possibly be 59 why jeopardize his rating if he plays two tournaments with a 60's team being possibly 10 years older than the youngest player. That's there choice and the choice of the team.
I know the new rule states that only three such players would be affected per scenario but why even have the rule at all?
This could possibly hamstring teams that find it difficult to field teams due to a lack of players due to geographical limitations, injuries, COVID, other personal commitments and even death, thus limiting the amount of teams per tournament'
What circumstances brought this about?
Why this rule change now to be implemented in 2023 and not at the annual meeting where players and managers can be present to discuss the new change?

In response to the email yesterday I do have a question.
If a player is on a 65 AAA team and plays on a 55AAA team is he now considered a 65 major+ player after two tournaments?
