It was not a suggestion. Just like I wrote, a "wild idea". So, take it easy!! It was just a hairbrain idea and obviously, we're not ready for it.
I umpire too and those who know me know that I carry a sectional PVC 12 ft. pole to tournaments to show managers/players where MY 12 ft. limit is at. So I allow pitches higher than others.
10 ft. is not illegal!!

Finally, there are LIDAR devices that can detect the 12 ft. pitching height. It's now kinda reasonable to assemble a unit together and place them on the fields.
Check Ebay for such devices.
360° Lidar Sensor Scanner Laser Ranging Radar Module Detecting Radius 8M LiDAR
It would be easy to assemble these devices and attach them to a detector that would notify us of a pitch exceeding the 12 ft. pitch limit.
What do you think?
Sorry, I can't post the Ebay URL for this.
Is it too advanced for SSUSA or we should only adhere to human detection of the game??

Well, it's 99% confirmed, the 2025 Aloha Bowl will be in Honolulu again at CORP. BUT, TH said the 60s division will have to play Tues. to Thurs. so we can have sufficient fields for the younger players Fri. to Sunday. Please make note of this. More info to follow. Another qualifier MAY be held on the big island or Maui, depending on how many teams will register prior to the tournament.

I am no longer a board member at Mayors Cup. If the current staff doesn't send me final results, then I cannot post it.

Discussion: New rule on shaved bats

Yes! Very interesting conversation!
As a manager, player, and SSUSA director, I would tell my players don't even think about using an altered bat when playing on my team. I may not know and they may have an altered bat, but I'll tell them not to jeopardize the credibility of our team or the game.

I've been told we have a problem with shaved/rolled bats here in Hawaii, but there's no way we can test and/or prove it. I've received numerous comments on it but it's beyond my control. If HQ can come up with a solution, I'd be happy to implement it.

Someone commented on PEDs. Now that's another issue for later. I did mention it to Terry a year ago, since I do know players who are using PEDs.
Mahalo.

Yes, the venue in China is not suitable this year. There is a backup location that has been secured. Terry will issue an update soon.

Aloha players/managers!!
SSUSA gave me the approval to announce the 2024 Aloha Bowl in Honolulu, March 5-10, 2024.
I'm doing this early because it will take time to coordinate your trip over if coming from the mainland.
It will be a similar format like last year, olders teams play weekdays, younger players start on Friday.
Response from this year's event and interest for next year is very promising.

We have a hotel for you to book if you're looking for accommodations.
The COURTYARD BY MARRIOTT WAIKIKI BEACH
400 Royal Hawaiian Avenue
Honolulu, HI 96815

Other places are available and you can research it online.

More information from HQ will be released soon.
