Feb. 18, 2022 lb16 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: You make the call Steve, You could have just asked me!! Yes runner is safe, once he crosses line if fielder tags him he is automatically safe. |
July 23, 2021 lb16 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: What's the call? Calls like this are called incorrectly a lot. It is a foul ball always where the ball is located at touch never where the player is. |
July 7, 2021 lb16 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Dont blame SSUSA for the ball problem. The tattoo ball SPA and ISSA use are great balls. Not sure if these are the ones SSUSA will be using or not. The dud SPA ball was when they switched to a different Baden ball. |
April 12, 2021 lb16 | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking for a team Tim, Come out to Exchange park on Tuesday night. There is a real competitive 50+ league that plays doubleheaders that night. The park is off of Lakeview Ave. You can talk to the guy there that runs the league his name is Dennis Rowell his ph. # is 850-758-1677. There are multiple guys that play there that also play on everything from 50AAA, 50 Major, 55AAA, & 55 Major tourney teams. |
April 8, 2021 lb16 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Infield fly not called Umpire should move runners back to the base they were on when infield fly should have been called batter is out. |
Jan. 28, 2021 lb16 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: 3rd Base Commitment line If catcher moves off of mat to catch ball and brushes runner going home with body not glove with ball in it there should be a no call if runner tags safety mat or crosses scoring line before catcher tags plate runner is safe. If catcher brushed runner with glove with ball in it runner should be called safe. Other runner would stay at base attained before tag. |
Aug. 3, 2020 lb16 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Should I buy a new 'old' bat? Currently there is no pass/fail measurement for senior bats. And as stated this rule only applies to USSSA. There probably won't be any compression standard set for senior bats anytime soon. And if there is you can assume all current senior bats will be grandfathered in for at least a couple of years. |
July 21, 2020 lb16 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Outfielder runs thru centerfield fence gap and catches home run ball; home run or out? Play should be ruled a Hr. If you would have made contact with ball before entering the gap area then it would be an out. |
July 20, 2020 lb16 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Batter pops up, doesn't run; defense lets ball drop to get a double play. Legal? grayhitter59 - Is there a rule listing for this in senior softball? It is the batters responsibility to run out the play. If he doesn't there is no reason to punish defense. This is a legal play as long as fielder doesn't touch ball in the process and just lets it land. |
June 11, 2020 lb16 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: What would've the call been? Did the defense throw ball in and someone tag 2nd? If so you have out # 2 run from 3rd still scores 5th run so basically 1/2 inning over 5 runs for the hitting team. |
April 6, 2020 lb16 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Running lane violation I would think to get an better explanation of the rule you will need to put a scenario. As in all judgement calls the actual play needs to be listed for an accurate explanation, there are different scenarios that would have different answers. |
March 16, 2020 lb16 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: missed Infield fly call alan - State infield fly rule should have been called. Put original base runners back on 1st and 2nd. Runners most likely would not have ran if called correctly and if they did run after ball being dropped defense would have most likely tagged runner instead of stepping on base for force. Always go with what would have most likely happened if rule was called correctly so as not to punish either team for missed call. |
Feb. 18, 2020 lb16 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Rumor on Bats DCPete - The USSSA bat change deadline has been extended to Jan. 1 2023. |
Dec. 12, 2019 lb16 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Suncoast/Adidas bats Dusty-3 I have a 27 oz. Suncoast balanced version. My review for now is limited as I am not taking full cuts as of yet I had rotator cuff repair on shoulder in August. I have took 15-20 light swings with mine with the wrapper still on and bat feels great. I will post more on it when I am able to take full swings. I believe performance is going to be top notch just concerned about how long it will last right now. |
Oct. 21, 2019 lb16 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Asa bats Not sure what was brought up in vegas meeting, but the ASA bats are not hotter than SSUSA bats. The reason SSUSA won't allow them is because the aren't stamped with a BPF rating. That's the only reason you can't swing them in SSUSA events. These bats are lower than 1.20 BPF but aren't stamped as such. |
Sept. 11, 2019 lb16 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Qualified bats Pretty simple answer no fees are being paid to SSUSA! |
Sept. 3, 2019 lb16 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Question bruiser - kinda confused by your description of play. you said bases loaded no one out so when umpire called infield fly you have 1 out. Runner going home is safe so you asked if runner going home was the 3rd out which isn't an out, where did the 2nd out come from? |
Aug. 5, 2019 lb16 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Eastern Championship BH44 - Ump sorta gave correct answer. There is always a batters box regardless if it's still visible or not. It becomes judgement of the umpire if batter is out of box or not if lines are no longer visible. |
July 25, 2019 lb16 | Topic: Bats Discussion: NEW Dudley Lift one piece 2020 Alan - Question is are the production bats that the general public purchase not going to crack early? The demo HotW's that were out weren't cracking like the retail product did. Did Dudley ever say what the issue was I haven't heard anything. I personally wouldn't invest in any HotW product right now until they have been sold over a period of time with good results on performance and durability. |
