Discussion: SCORING RULE

I guess that’s why so many hitters say they hit 700!
If you hit a one bouncer to the pitcher and he throws it into right field, what did you do that helped your team? Hit the ball?

Just like the major leagues do it. Sacrifice fly with an error. No at bat, RBI, but for on base percentage, the batter is zero for one. Also, the runner can leave third base as soon as the ball is touched by the outfielder.

Hi Dan, I have been looking at that site and can't find anything like the original page that got me on a team a few years ago. Do you know where it is?

It looks like our team isn't going this year. I would still like to go. I have been playing for the Northern Express 74-79 team. I'm 78, 6'6, 215, and play 2B, 1B and corner OF. I've been playing senior softball for over 20 years.

What's a good spot for batting practice at Arroyo Grande before our games?

When you click on tournament map, for instance for the Western Nationals, some of the locations are green and some are red. They have numbers or question marks on them. What does this mean? Any chance it means miles from Sacramento?

Thanks mck71. That's the only place they're filled out.

I'm not seeing brackets filled out, either.

My shoes fit fine because I ordered a size larger. They felt fine today in their first outing in a doubleheader.

I bought a full size larger and they're still tight.

Discussion: High Top Cleats

I bought some high top cleats from Boombah because they were a closeout and I have a hard time finding shoes in my size. There are no returns for this shoe.

Why is it no one wears high tops in tournaments? Are they worse for running?

I think it's a great rule. Anything to bring down the scores from a slugfest to some meaningful runs.

He's looking for a 65+ team and is a very good line-drive hitter. He would be a good addition for any AA or AAA level team. I play with him in league. Maybe the 911 team or Godzilla?

Discussion: Scorekeeping Question

Mason's Grandpa is the only one that got it right. It is a sacrifice fly foremost, because if the OF catches it, the run still scores. I don't believe there's an error, however, because the batter didn't reach safely (since the runner on first was forced at 2B).

As for only hits and outs in softball, that's just lazy. Most players don't know what constitutes an error, so they just give him a hit. Doesn't help the manager any when everyone is hitting over .600! A batter has nothing to do with getting on base if the fielder makes an error.

And I'm still waiting to see a batter score from 2nd on a walk, since some say it's as good as a hit!

Well, I always advocated for a coin flip in the championship game (the first one), but I appreciate the detailed response Dave!
