For 2019 Can we move the 40s spring tourney back to palm springs or maybe San Diego. Always had a good turn out. SoCal state championships should be in southern Cali as well. | March 5, 2018 VOODOOSPORTS | Topic: Bats Discussion: Are you serious. funny read!!!! I say that because compression testing on Sr bats isn't a thing. SSUSA has never set a pass/fall standard. Sr bats don't fail compression! If they ever did they would have to set the number very low. I had a big cat in the bag at a utrip event and for fun tested it. With 30 cuts on it the bat tested at 150. The guy laughs and says WTF they let guys your size swing these? |

I bet is is just chilling at the grand canyon or something. Updates have been important to us, what can we do as players to get them in a more timely matter. | June 9, 2016 VOODOOSPORTS | Topic: Bats Discussion: SSUSA Staff: Shaved Bats I agree with the ben geeee guy. Haven't noticed shaved bats in SSUSA. Think its not cost productive. $160.00 avg for a bat that lasts 500 cuts then spend whatever it is to make it last 100. No thanks. IMHO why would bat companies make a change? ASA/USSSA bats have a warranty. So a stock bat gets sent back before year is up =2 bats for $250.00. A shaved bat doesn't get sent back= 1 bat for $250.00. I don't think shaved bats are an issue in senior softball, but thats me. |

No we did not know this was going to be the format when we paid. Still would have played to get out of the heat in Tucson (113 this weekend) Just wanted to know if SSUSA approved this format also? I don't know what the format is for the other age groups, this is just for the 40s. |

I would take either one over what we play in Flagstaff this weekend (June 4/5) 3 game round robin then single elim. SSUSA did you approve this one as well? play 3 games that don't matter as much then out of tourney if you lose 1 game?????? |

| May 13, 2016 VOODOOSPORTS | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: You make the call ok to understand further. on a fly ball and a runner on 3rd crosses over the commit line before the catch he is out but only based on an appeal play. is this what your saying. Defense would throw the ball to 3rd and even if runner was standing on 3rd by then he is still out because he passed the commit line. this rule works only for 3rd to home any other runner taking off on the hit has a right to get back to 2nd or first (before a throw) because of the lack of a commit line. Is this correct. |

Many on third no out, ball is hit in the air to left center. Guy on third takes off home while ball is in the air. The runner crosses the commit line (but not home line) and the ball is caught in the air. The runner then runs back over the commit line to tag up. Safe or out? some theories from last night 1. runner has the right to re cross the commit line to tag 2. its a "commit line" runner is out 3. runner must first cross home line then run back to 3rd before the throw to be safe. 4. dead ball out |

As also seen in utrip conf. game a big HR hitter dropped his grip to slap "caca" the ball to right and watched a veteran ump call him out. Months later the same guy asked me in an open (umping) if I will call him out if he did that. I told him I cant answer until i see it because what you describe may not be what you carry out in your swing. Then reminded him I saw him get called out in Palm springs for that. Again I never use that rule or enforce it when I umpire. The chop rule I have used and will continue to do so. |
| April 26, 2016 VOODOOSPORTS | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Vegas 50's Fields Mango, good umps at Lorenzi? Guess we just got unlucky. Tourney was ran great, fields at are park were just fine but the umps we had were terrible. On at least seven occasions(that I remember) the umps had to be corrected on play calls (rules) how many outs, CR rules, time out rules, Hr numbers and I had to literally give an ump a hug because he was so worked up he was shaking. The kicker was all of these times it wasn't the usual, that's why we lost scenarios they were in the early parts of games. Hell twice we were given 5 runs, one time in the first inning and I had to tell the ump im the 4th batter that was only a 4 run bomb. Umps didn't signal time but called plays dead, had a do over on a pitch because "he wasn't paying attention" according to the blue. He was talking to an outfielder not looking at the game. Overall great tourney but the 40s deserve better umps for the price we pay for entry fees. |

You cannot prove intent to something that didn't result in. note a chopped ball rule is separate to the natural swing rule. I have called a guy out who has established a natural swing them in a later at bat dropped the bat down so his hands were close to the barrel and slapped the ball to right. |
