Discussion: Any Update on The Stote?

I just got an email for the managers of the teams going to Syracuse Northeast Championships and it said we are using the Evil 44/375 for that tournament....we used the Trump stote in Westminster a few weeks ago and it was a dud...3 HRs in 4 games for our major team....if the Evil ball is anything like the Evil league ball we use in leagues, it will be a HUGE improvement over these dead Stotes we were given....obviously there has been enough comments in our part of the country to realize that the USA stamped Stotes we are using are vastly different from the old SSUSA stamped Stotes we have used in previous tournies

Discussion: Which Ball travels further: ASA or SSUSA

Bruce...the ANSWER to your original question, which ball travels further, the ASA or SSUSA ball..we used the Trump Stote USA ball this past weekend in Westminster and all the teams that played in our Major division said the ball was mush....we hit 3 TOTAL HRs in 4 games...the teams we played hit a total of 6 in the 4 games versus us....I put them side by side with my SSUSA stamped Trump stote and it looked identical other than a few different colors in ink but when the ump saw me grab the two of them to compare them, he said, "Do not put that ball into the game"...my experience with the Trump Stote USA ball was that it does not travel farther than the Trump Stote SSUSA ball...it still goes fast through the infield but it does not go far...hope that helps

Discussion: you make the call

Runner on second, 2 outs...batter hits ball to third, third baseman throws wide to first and first baseman comes up line to catch the ball to tag runner.....runner turns back towards plate to avoid tag.....first baseman chases runner back towards home to tag him out....meanwhile runner on second touches 3rd base and runs for home....while batter is 4 feet from home, first baseman throws to catcher who misses tag at plate of diving runner from second base....batter then runs back to first base where no one is covering and the catcher throws wild to the infielder covering first base...throw goes into right field and batter/runner now advances to second.....throw comes in wide to second and everyone is safe.....what was the easiest way to avoid all the nonsense in a professional baseball game...please send all replies to the Pittsburgh Pirates.....that was some Bad News Bears stuff right there

Discussion: Maryland Classic Apr 30-May2

I was in the game with no "umpire"....we had a meeting between both managers and decided a guy for each team would call the game while their team was in the field, that way they wouldn't come up to bat while umping....it really was a smooth game and no real close calls for any controversy...we decided if it were a close play, the 2 managers would decide it and common sense would prevail....they were a great bunch of guys and just like most of the games in our bracket that day, it came down to the last at bat for all our games to be decided

not if it is within the 50-60 foot distance and it isn't deemed too flat

Discussion: 6 foot minimum pitch vs excessive speed

a pitch from 60 feet will definitely go faster than a pitch from 50 feet....it is up to the umpire to make sure the distance is correct, otherwise if it is between 6-12 feet high, it has to be legal if it hits the mat with no excessive speed warning

Discussion: What does it mean?

endload is usually 1/2 ounce
reloaded is 3/4 ounce
at least that is how adidas and suncoast sold them but each manufacturer is different within their own ranks

Tim, has there been any decision made on the Crab Town Classic as to whether Bachman Complex will allow out of state teams and if not, will Carroll Complex have enough fields to handle the whole field of teams...thanks

Discussion: VA BEACH UPDATES

Tim, great job this weekend with the Tidewater tourney and all the weather issues on Sunday morning...I was talking with a few of the other managers and we were wondering if in the future, we could get the winner's bracket final done on saturday instead of sunday morning like it was scheduled....here were a few things observed, the winner of the first game sunday morning in the winner's bracket would have played at 930 and would have to wait until 3pm to play their next game...with the weather situation, that pushed all the earlier games back but there was still a 3 hour wait for the winner's bracket team to play their next game after their first win....saturday afternoon we were done at 1 pm with a few fields open and 2 teams that were in the winner's finals at the field and ready to play if they had to do that....either way, all the teams except 1 would have played sunday if they got their 5th game completed...plus it rewards the winner's finalist a steady schedule on sundays with maybe 1 game wait at most to finish the bracket....just an observance over the weekend...thank you

Discussion: Hotels jacking prices for SSUSA tournaments

It was just brought to my attention that Hyatt House which is endorsed by SSUSA for the Tidewater Classic tournament in Virginia Beach is charging 20 dollars a night extra to park at their hotels....this basically eliminates any discounts that SSUSA negotiated for teams to stay there March 25-28 weekend for $109 per night...I figured with the $20 per night extra and taxes and fees, it would be closer to $150 per room night for guys to stay there....i know Hyatt says free parking on their main website but individually, this particular Hyatt adds on the Valet parking daily fee....has anyone else seen this yet???? and is this asking too much to eliminate this fee especially when it is out of season in that area

Discussion: COVID 19 PROTOCOLS

I went to a wedding last summer...they gave out wrist bands, red, yellow and green....RED meant stay away, no hugs no contact, stay away...YELLOW meant elbow bumps, talking at 6 feet and socially distancing themselves and GREEN meant no problems, come on in to meet me....it all boils down to common sense but one thing for sure, the rules are set just like traffic signals and we must follow to play...it's a privilege and not a right

Discussion: shoes

i would be all over the Hokas if they made them waterproof with a larger selection in colors....otherwise, if you wear them in the outfield, they will be soaked in the first inning....also, they are very porous for ventilation and dusty fields will fill your shoes (personal experience) as I have worn Hokas on the field in BP....now they have their mission to accomplish
