Discussion: End of the story

ARO Glass Clubbers out Washington State have played their final game, we are done. The Clubbers started in he early 1970's and have played senior softball for the past 20 years. We are based out of Aberdeen WA. Aberdeen was a logging community near the coast of Washington.

I want to thank SSUSA, Dave, Fran and Terry for all the work they do to make this all happen. I also want to thank Ron Grassi for is guidance in following the rules. Ron will know why I mentioned this.

SSUSA has been great for our generation. It allows us to stay active and to make many friends. We will miss playing teams such as Last Call, R&R, Sacramento Islanders, Scrap Iron and back in the day, Envior Vac (Eh) !!

Some us will still be playing but for the first time it won't be with the Clubbers.

Everyone stay safe, see you around the ballpark.

John

Just saw that it was cancelled. It was always a favorite of the Northwest guys. The late Shane Verley was one of the the original directors of this great tournament. It puts everything in perspective. I would think Vegas is not a sure thing. ARO Glass is hoping that we all stay safe and see you when we can.

Discussion: Team list for the Northwest Championships?

ARO Glass is the team that dropped out. This is the first time in 18 years that they have dropped out of a tournament. As manager of the team I am the one that sent 2 emails to SSUSA to an unattended inbox. I recent attempts to call the office last week on a different matter I reached a recording so I thought the best option was to email. There was no way for me to know that it was an unattended email.

ARO Glass has been around along time and appreciate all that SSUSA does for our generation. Especially note worthy is the efforts of Dave, Fran and Terry. With that being said I want to apologize to SSUSA and to the teams in our bracket for this late notice. Some members on our team have family members with underling health conditions. They were concerned about contacting COVID 19. Another player was advised by his doctor not to play after having a stroke and heart attack. Sometimes the right decision isn't the popular decision and for that I don't need to apologize. The health and safety of all my brothers on my team is what matters.

Everyone stay safe and follow the rules and have fun.

Discussion: Vegas 65 AAA observations

Our team was out early, that happens. Here are a few thoughts. The tournament was well organized. Games were pretty much on time. We came across only one umpire that made the game about him. The rest were great. No need to mention names. I spoke with the manager of a Texas team that told me that a California team they had just played were using a ball with blue stitching. I thought that was not possible because teams are only allowed to use tournament issued balls. I talked with the tournament director about this and she told me that SSUSA allowed this ???? I am hoping SSUSA can provide some clarification.

Suggestion for sorting out a rain out tournament. Unbeaten teams tie for first. The others still playing on Sunday could be rank by
how they were seeded ( this makes seeding games more important)but only if there were no head to head games in bracket play prior to rainout. Just a thought.

also, Joey and staff did a great job at Walker park fields did a great job.

If a team has qualified as a 65 AAA and later qualifies as a 65 Major. Are they required to play in the higher bracket ?

Desert Breeze is terrible. Outfields are so hard the ball bounces like it is hitting cement. As with most older people, we all have the need to use the restroom. This year there was NO tp in the restrooms in the morning. I told the staff this, they informed me they had the same problem last year!!
I will post my other complaints in a email to SSUSA. I believe they are isolated issues that they need to be aware of.

Discussion: How does a Team rated as a Major win a AAA world tounament

The Oregon Crab won Reno and Worlds this year in the 65 AAA classification. They are a very good team and a good group of guys. The Crab were rated as a 65 Major in March 0f 2015. Is this a TYPO ? Is this a different groups of Crabs ? Can SSUSA staff provide some clarification ? Happy New Years !!!!!!!!!!!!

this may be a re-post, I posted once before and never saw on this site

On a "must be fair" foul ball, how can a runner advance if the ball is caught in foul and is a dead ball out ? I thought no runner can advance on a dead ball.

Discussion: The Rock.

Our league in AZ is considering the use of the Rock softball. I know there are pros and cons but I would like to know why SSUSA uses the ball for Worlds. I also wonder how many, if any injuries can be attributed to the use of the ROCK. With over 600 teams (?) playing were there any ?

I want to be able to present this information to our association.

Thanks

P.S I know the SSUSA staff has lot of spare time to respond to this questions.

I believe NJ Hitman, Enviro Vac, AZ Ancients finished in that order for 65 Major. Correct me if I am wrong.
