Nationals announce 2001 rule changes

March 1, 2001 – Senior Softball-USA

LAS VEGAS ˆ Several National Softball organizations announced rule changes at the Senior Softball Summit here:

-- ASA has instituted a 3-person committee to go over senior rules and to discuss establishing playing regions.

-- USSSA will observe the senior courtesy runner rule followed by the other eight national organizations.

-- NSA adopted the strike mat. Teams must now qualify to compete in the NSA senior national championships. They may qualify in open NSA tournaments or any SPA Qualifying tournament.

-- ISA has adopted the 5-run per inning limit rule, with the open 7th inning.

-- SPA has adopted the 5-run rule for AA Division.

-- SSWS allows 70+, 75+ and Women's Division to draw players east or west of the Mississippi River.

-- The Huntsman Games adopted the "no run-through" rule followed by all 8 other national organizations
