Clarification

Jan. 1, 2002 – Senior Softball-USA

An article in the November Edition of Softball News should have made clear that the SSWC Board allowed Bob Mitchell to play on the Texas Lone Star team as an exception in extreme medical circumstances.

The SSWC Board overlooked the fact Mitchell did not have a written release from his original team in an attempt to help the Texas team in a last-minute emergency, said Terry Hennessy, SSWC executive director.

"The reason for the protests was because of a mistake of the SSWC Board and was not an attempt by Mitchell to circumvent the rules," said Hennessy. "In fact, Bob Mitchell was only trying to help the Texas Lone Stars."
