NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SENIOR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Sept. 1, 2010

By Gary Tryhorn,

President, NCSSA

The Northern California Senior Softball Association celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2010. NCSSA sanctions tournaments every weekend from February through November with more than 110 teams participating.

The Hall of Fame Tournament was held in August at the Big League Dreams Park in Manteca, California, drawing 62 teams. Four NCSSA members were inducted into the NCSSA Hall of Fame at the tournament. They included, Bob Elwood, John Kranz, Al Meyers and Norm Blackwell.

During the 2010 year our beloved webmaster Bob Strand, redesigned the NCSSA website and has made some incredible advances in website design. We now have mileage charts built in so that the Tournament Directors can assign times that make sense, a ranking list that helps Tournament Directors bracket their tournaments, and a critique form that any player can access to give the Board feedback on a particular tournament.

The NCSSA website’s address is You can check out tournament flyers, schedules, and results for this year, and year’s past.

Coming up on December 4 will be the NCSSA General Membership meeting at the city offices in Manteca. At this meeting of managers and players, rule changes are submitted and voted on by the membership, and the business affairs of the organization are discussed.

We will also present embroidered jackets to the newly inducted NCSSA Hall of Fame members.
